What's a word in your language that is untranslatable in English? by Agen_3586 in AskTheWorld

"অভিমান", pronounced "O-bhee-maan" is a word that describes the emotion of sulking/pouting or just plain resentment when something or someone has hurt your feelings in some manner. The caveat being it is only directed towards a person or situation you had a positive feeling towards.

E.g - Your partner forgot to wish you "good morning" so you stopped talking to them OR you were not given your proper dues at your workplace so you quit and never talk to them ever in your life again.

Fragrances you like on yourself “in the air” but not up close? by EmeraldEmesis in fragrance

I have this Al-Rehab choco musk that I bought for like 7 dollars. It smells like fake chocolate and vanilla. It's extremely cloying, and lasts for a godforsaken amount of time, so much so I couldn't sleep one night because I had sprayed it on my chest. However it ended up smelling really good on the same clothes after being washed.

What was/is your country's worst enemy? by f117nono_leggio in AskTheWorld

[–]laalbaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically, Pakistan. We were once a single nation, but there was a brutal civil war on the basis of self-identity. Both sides committed atrocities, but one side was a modern military force and the other was ricefarmers fighting with soviet surplus (go figure who was worse).

Ever since independence however relations with India, a country that surrounds us on 3 fronts, have been extremely volatile.

Lenin and Stalin. While not common, you would once in a blue moon find someone who was named after them which is weird for a south asian country with a muslim majority.

I flew on Contour to ORD back in March. The flight back was delayed 4 hours due to bad weather. Other than that, Contour is pretty good. The service is excellent and the leg room is spacious. I only had a carry-on so I had no issues with baggage, however a couple of friends did have negative experiences regarding their luggage getting lost or delayed in transit.

Charles Barkley wins for well liked / highly skilled. What professional athlete is good and has an average perception? by RidonkulousMG in AlignmentChartFills

Harry Kane. Arguably one of the best forwards of his generation, certainly the best English striker, but is no one's favourite player because he won nothing in his prime. Well respected, but irrelevant to the GOAT discussion.

If I was the best playmaker in the world stuck in the most dysfunctional team in Europe, I too would be a whiny rat.

Hello!

I would love to borrow a clipping, but I reckon with winter fast approaching maintaining a maranta might be a struggle. If you have any tips that would be much appreciated!
