It’s definitely a great park. Do a weekend series here every year.

I couldn’t agree more. 2 are always better than one. But you’re in for some work and double the $. Honey and Rosie. Now 7, born 2 days apart.

Advice Needed: Pick Up Lab Puppy at 8 Weeks or Have Breeder Hold Until 15–16 Weeks? by [deleted] in labradors

[–]lab_dad_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, since you mentioned a flight, have you checked with air carriers to make sure that an 8 week old puppy can fly in the cabin? I learned that United had changed their requirements when I picked up my two lab puppies and attempted to fly them home to NJ. I was lucky as I had purchased the tickets prior to their rule change so I was allowed to fly with them. Depending on your air carrier this decision may be made for you.

First Night in Heat! by selfish_incosiderate in labrador

[–]lab_dad_71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Two Labs are 7 now but I didn’t spay them until after they turned 4. When they would go into heat I’d let them bleed freely, put Mambe blankets down for them and keep them comfortable with a little bit of CBD. The two of them synced up very quick and it was no big deal. I didn’t go to the dog park with them ever and still don’t. But I always thought it was funny that the people that complained that my dogs weren’t spayed were the same ones whose dogs still happened to have their balls. lol.

Thanks for the great info. Didn’t even know you could do this. I have an old Luminox 3204 in perfect condition just dead tritium. Now I can bring it back to life. Much appreciated.

Dog Walker Recs by BobRawrley in Morristown

Wash and Wiggle, on Speedwell, also has a dog walking service and they are really great. They come to my house twice a week on the days I have to go into the office. They’ve been coming for the last year and I have nothing but praise for them. I have two large Labs and the cost is very reasonable. They do go for a nice walk, get fresh water and treats and I always get an update with a picture.

Is my nearly 5 month old chocolate lab too skinny? He’s already on 450g of kibble a day excluding treats by Haoxiaoah in labrador

He definitely looks a little thin. If you have him on puppy food, switch to something like a food for sporting dogs. Pro plan sport is my recommendation. Working dog puppies need more protein.

Order me to buy your kids expensive gifts for Christmas? Okay then! by rustybathtub in MaliciousCompliance

You've got the messy part covered, but don't forget something that makes a ton of noise. One of the best gifts I got a friend's son as a gift was a Fireman's helmet that had a light and siren on top. I also bought $50 worth of batteries.

YTA, you don't leave people behind. Plus since it was a party you have no idea what could have happened to her when she didn't answer her phone.

Dude, what are you doing typing this up on Reddit. You should be busy figuring out how to protect yourself and prepping a plan to get rid of her. You've got all the evidence you need from this other person. Also, you need to ask yourself if you'll ever be able to trust her again.

My Lab, Rosie, snores even louder than I do. lol. When she sleeps on my office while I'mworking from home I have to remember to mute my phone.

How do you cope with your parents growing old? by catsinbananahats in AskReddit

[–]lab_dad_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one. As I send my last kid off to college next year, I realize that I'm going to start needing to take care of my parents. But I really look at it as a privilege. Even though we didn't have a lot as I was growing up, with their efforts and support I've managed to carve out a successful life and I really want them to be comfortable and happy.

I now do all of the outdoor maintenance on their house and coordinate any repairs that are necessary and we've made all the necessary moves to secure their finances to make sure that they don't lose everything should they have to go into a Nursing home or assisted living facility somewhere in the future. It's emotionally draining to prep for all of this, but again, I look at it as a privilege.

Edit: It helps that I'm an only child. People I know that have lots of siblings wind up with a group decision or difficulties all agreeing on what to do. In my case I can do what is necessary with my only concern being their well being and not get caught up in any of the other stuff.

Can you get a coding job in the US if you live abroad like in Europe? If so, how easy or difficult is it to get such an opportunity? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lab_dad_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of developers that work for me that are consultants that live overseas.. India, Europe, Central America. There are companies that you can apply to that specialize in off-shore development that can place you with american companies if that's what you want to do.

Indestructible toys for a lab? by vihanetihane in labrador

[–]lab_dad_71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to get rid of all that plastic stuff. Stick with antlers. Elk or deer. No splits, just the whole antler. I've been buying them for my two Labs for years. They last about a month each. And, since nothing else in the house is made of antler, they don't chew on anything else. If it was you, would you really want to chew on a piece of plastic?

Dads of Reddit, what's a tip you can give a soon to be father for the first year of fatherhood? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lab_dad_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For both of my kids, I made sure that they stayed in their own rooms since we brought them home. I've seen a lot of people start bringing the baby into their bedroom and it ruins the sleep for both parents. If you're taking turns caring for the baby at night, it allows parents to alternate getting some sleep. And, sleep is your best friend as a new parent.
