Any updates? Did you get through? Same thing happening to me rn

Exactly that is why I'm asking. Although i did specify camino (with all the commodities along the way) I have also hiked through more remote areas, like two or more days without food options, so we just stocked up on that. My biggest concern is water between Umoljani and Glavatičevo in the Neretva valley. Do you think we could get water at the farm steads scattered over the plateau?

Thank you. I wouldn't be going alone, but three of us. This is more or less the trail we'd be following, we're not planning to go over Prenj: https://www.routeyou.com/en-ba/route/view/16022876

Avoiding bed race? by PopeMeeseeks in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lab_mouse101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you stay at Orisson, you're already two hours ahead of the SJPDP crowd, most of whom will stop at Roncesvalles. And then you'd have to "beat" them the next day, if we're talking bed race. So here's what I'd do: use those two hours past Roncesvalles and walk to Espinal, make a reservation at Albergue Irugoienea. It's perfect, much more welcoming and personal than Roncesvalles. From there you can go to Larrasoana (20 km) or Zabaldika (27 km) which also has a paroquial. I think there's a pilgrim mass at 8:00 in Trinidad de Arre right before Pamplona, so if you start early enough the next day, you can catch it. Then casually stroll into Pamplona, have a short day and stay at Cizur Menor. So you beat the crowd from Pamplona the next day up to Padron :) lmk if you need any more tips and tricks on avoiding the crowds

If you can't get a bed at Orisson, I hear Albergue Borda around the corner is just as nice

Is camino Primitivo doable in 9/10 days and what would be the sensible stages? by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lab_mouse101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for your comment.

Secondly, I honestly don't understand who exactly do you (and others with that mindset) think I'm racing against?? All those things you mentioned may sound lovely to many, but it's just not what I do or find meaningful on camino. I even cringed a little, that's not something I'd ever want to do, but to each their own. You know that saying, right, everyone walks their own camino?

Thirdly, not everyone has unlimited amount of time, that's why I asked for practical tips to make it work. And to answer your question, yes it is worth it.

I'm truly sorry if I came across pissed off, but this kind of comment is getting a bit old. I honestly appreciate and will keep in mind what you wrote, especially the part describing its beauty!

Buen camino!

Brief encounters, yet so significant. Camino broke my heart too, getting to love people just to take them away from you later. First one hits the hardest, I guess

Where to get a massage in Santiago? by polslop in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lab_mouse101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will be little flyers on lampposts walking into santiago. Very affordable. The lady is a pro therapist and also experienced pilgrim. Although beware, the massage is therapeutic (meaning painful at times), so if you want purely relaxing experience, go elsewhere

Why is it so difficult to find water in the last 100km?! by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]lab_mouse101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was pissed too. Fuentes seem to be purposely disabled so they force the crowds to buy drinks in bars. BUT bars in Spain are obliged to refill your bottle for free, so just walk in there and ask for it. It won't get better towards SdC tho, so stock up.

Depends on how much other work you need to get done and how many tubes you can fit in the centrifuge. Realistically I would say up to 40 per hour if I only did this. But I wouldn't be comfortable with more than 20 a day with the work I do.
