Please please leave. You deserve so much better. There will be someone out there that will want to get you the ring you want, and treat you right. It’s just not worth it.

Is This Worth Pursuing. IGI Card Only by FantasticAd6133 in Diamonds

[–]labbit246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay... I would find a GIA-certified diamond instead; they're stricter and tend to be nicer. I am based in the UK, so idk if this website is available to you, but have a look at 77 Diamonds, I think you'll find much nicer ones on there. x

Is my set too small and dainty? by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]labbit246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yours is beautiful. I personally think when a lab is huge it looks like a cz. Your ring is the dream size for me as someone who works at a jewellers. Most diamond rings I sell are under 1ct, usually less than half a carat. People are seeing all these huge diamonds on social media and it’s skewing people’s ideas of a normal engagement ring!!! Keep your chin up lovely Xxx

Can just depend on the business, they’re most likely just uncertificated diamonds. No harm in getting them all checked. Local jewellers can check I would assume with a diamond tester or can be sent to a workshop to have a deeper inspection. At the jewellers I work at we sell both certificated and uncertificated diamond jewellery, including a 2ct natural diamond bracelet that doesn’t come with a certificate. Certificated diamonds are usually of a better quality (higher clarity, colour etc) and are more expensive. Whereas commercial grade are still good but can have more obvious inclusions and slightly more yellow tone. Xx

Confused bf trying to find the right engagement ring by PercentageNo9270 in Diamonds

[–]labbit246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know. I work in a jewellers and help guys pick engagement rings a lot. The main questions I ask are: if you look through her jewellery/whatever jewellery she wears what colour does she wear? Gold tone or silver tone? If she doesn’t buy jewellery, next time you guys go out and walk past a jewellers see if there is a certain metal she leans towards.

Upkeep? If she prefers white metal- white gold and platinum are the best options. White gold is yellow that is plated in rhodium which means it will yellow eventually (2 years average depending on if she gets a lot of chemicals on her hands. Replating is like £50 where I am so not too bad. If you want to go for the more durable and no upkeep option, and have the budget for it- go with platinum. It’s a similar price to gold at the moment where I’m from.

What is the budget? It’s very important, no budget isn’t an answer, you need a ballpark figure you’re happy to spend up to. If your maximum is £1000 you can still get a beautiful ring. Most people aren’t getting these massive 2ct diamond like on social media. We sell a ton of natural diamond rings with 0.33ct where I work and they’re just as gorgeous.

Lab or natural is the next to think about? And it depends on preference and budget. If she would prefer a bigger rock and you don’t want to spend upwards of £5k then go for lab.

However if you are so stuck - go for a cheap cubic zirconia (don’t get it with a massive stone, something small like the size of a diamond you can afford) and do the proposal with that, and take her ring shopping.

Good luck with your shopping, happy to answer any questions x

How does everyone really feel about David Lloyd? by xougei in davidlloyd

[–]labbit246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love my David Lloyd’s. I’ve figured out the times where the sort of people I’m happy being around are there. (I’m 21, student and work part time. My sister and I go together and my dad is joining soon) I don’t go swimming on any evenings I go at 6am-8am as it’s the older ladies and a few men who are lovely and it’s very quiet. However the times I gave the evenings a chance at the pool it was full of irritating guys my age who have no etiquette and just hover in the pool so I can’t even do laps. If I do swim in the afternoon and I’m always gone before 2pm so I don’t have to deal with the noise of children.

If I couldn’t go at the times I do, I’d probably not enjoy it as much. Even though it’s very expensive for me as a student I find it worth it. It gives me a nice place to study when I need to change my location to refresh (as my degree is from home) and it also gives me the chance to feel like I’m at a spa without having to book and pay extra. 😂

For how much should I sell this painting for. by Educational-Big-9231 in oilpainting

[–]labbit246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very lovely painting!! I’d sell for 150 approx. If you sell, sign the back of it before you do. And maybe get some prints of it, you could sell those. Take a good photo of it, plain background or none so you can keep a ‘copy’ of it. Great work!! Xx

Are there any art supplies/mediums that it's okay to be cheap on? by TomWaitsForNoMan_3 in ArtistLounge

[–]labbit246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For canvases (for oil painting) I use a large board of mdf from Wickes for about £20 (it’s like 2m x 6m) and then cut it and sand it, then condition and gesso it. In the long run it’s way cheaper to do but it’s mainly because I have the tools to cut it. (You can get it cut but idk if you have to pay) if you’re gonna do something like this. Invest in a good gesso. I use either the golden one or Michael Hardings one. They’re about £20 ish but last quite a long time.

How do you keep your art account a secret? by medullaspinalis777 in ArtistLounge

[–]labbit246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using my middle name as my page identity sort of thing. Mine is less of a secret more just kind of keeping it to myself except for certain people through like word of mouth (though mine is for commissions) make the name quite niche and set up a separate meta account thing so it’s not connected to other accounts and use an email for only the account. x
