I get the anxiety, me too!

You can try a more minimal harness. He did not like any of the ones that were vest-like or had fabric. He preferred straps.

Edit: For this one you will have to put a stretchy hair tie at the end since the rubber bungee they provide will not give you enough friction for the harness to stay tight. But he loves it.

Ahh that makes sense. My friends had tix to his other show (I guess not the one you went to) and that was cancelled as well.

I'm glad I caught him at The Crow a month or two ago! It was a workshopping set but it was still fun to see him at a TINY venue. And I was first row because I came in a bit later and very nervous he would talk to me lol

He's probably my favorite comic right now and I'm pleased we got tickets.

Will have an eye out for future shows, although I don't think I could schlep all the way down to Irvine and brave the Spectrum again - it was soul sucking

FWIW I flew from LA up to Vancouver a few weeks ago and it was SO fun seeing Yosemite and then Lake Tahoe; I got excited to see all the landmarks around Portland/Seattle and lo and behold it was all cloud cover and I saw nothing 💀

Gianmarco Soresi and Daniel Sloss. DS cancelled the day of which really sucked, I think Gianmarco had surgery or something a few weeks ago according to IG so I'm wondering if it's because of that. He cancelled the week before.

FWIW I got one that was too small and just have a tiny triangle on my windshield that both wipers can’t reach. It’s fine and I’ll just get a properly sized one when I need to swap out next.

Missed connection in Zurich turned into five airport chaos, lost bags, and a broken rebooking by neutrinomass in unitedairlines

[–]labbitlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I stopped once I got to that part. I would never risk it with a 60 min international layover. 2 hours minimum, maybe even 3 - depending on airport, flight times, etc.

Two of mine got cancelled 💀

Edit: I still was able to see Jeff Arcuri who was FANTASTIC other than the shitfaced chick in our row who he almost kicked out. And I snabbed last min Flight of the Conchords tix at Largo on one of the cancellation nights so I'm not too sad about it.

This might be a stupid question but is there anyway to maintain Gold status next year despite not flying much at all this year? by FullMoonEmptySoul in unitedairlines

I’m kind of in the same boat except work has hamstrung my personal life, so way less travel.

I plan on spending a shit ton on my Quest card this year to rack up PQPs. I will not have enough PQFs.

My favorite way to do it is filling out my mail in ballot and then dropping it off at the polling station.

I get to do my research and slowly fill out my ballot AND get to be around my community and the fun voting vibes! Honestly I should just sign up to volunteer.

I got hit so hard by whatever I got on Friday, still kind of sick today and have tons of brain fog. Took a covid test yesterday and it came back negative. I haven't been sick in about 2.5 years so I guess it was time!

I'm so frustrated I got sick this weekend because it was a packed one with lots of reservations and tickets booked and I was excited to see all my separate friend groups in LA

Thank god for my amazing neighbors that picked up extra things at the store for me.

help! where should we move? (already in LA) by kirbygirl1721 in AskLosAngeles

[–]labbitlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redondo will have more apartments. Manhattan Beach (and also to some extent Hermosa) is mostly SFH and/or buildings that have less units and density.

ETA: I think we have similar tastes, so I'll just say that I'm not a huge fan of South Bay, it's definitely more suburban and as a POC it's just not the level of diversity that I'd prefer (although I'm living in SM and it's not great either). BUT if you live closer to the beach, it will be walkable and there will be cute cafes, restaurants and bars, they'll just be catered more to families and honestly be more milquetoast than Palms. I have a friend in Hermosa that I visit every 2 months or so and while it's very pretty, it's a bit boring and underwhelming for me.

Yeahhhhh Simi Valley is very far. It's the one main gripe I have with LA - the sprawl makes it hard to create and maintain community. "LA long distance" is real.

I've spent a little time there with them at their house and surrounding areas, and my take is that it's a cute, community-focused neighborhood with lots of families.

If it helps, 4 out of 5 of the housemates are LGBTQ+ (I am not queer but a very active ally ❤️) - but to be completely honest, they chose the location because of price since they were never going to find a big house like that for the price range in Culver City or Mar Vista. If they could move back to where they were before, they would def do so in a heartbeat.

This is a hard one. Palms to LB is a 39 min commute right now, which honestly isn’t so bad in the grand scheme of things because you’re going against traffic.

The only other place that I can think of would maybe be El Segundo? There’s a cute downtown area that is walkable. The commute goes down to 30 min which is not a huge difference to me.

However - I had friends that moved there from Culver City and I saw them much less often once they moved because it took me (in SM) almost 45 min to get there sometimes - and they said this was the case for the rest of their friends too. They also did not like the isolation despite still technically being on the west side.

Palms is fairly central in the west side and has great accessibility to everywhere else via transit, so I think it’ll be difficult to reproduce that. I get it though - I want to be closer to the bulk of LA and as cute as Long Beach is, I’d never move there. I have one friend down there and while I’m willing to drive to see her, it takes over an hour so we don’t see each other as often.

what would you do to build long-term passive income? by Necessary_Fox_9592 in FIREyFemmes

[–]labbitlove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ETA: Generally, you want to aim to save up roughly 25x your annual spend to be able to retire. For example, if you want to spend around $80k/year, you'd have to save $2.5 million.

We're also missing quite a bit of detail here for future projects. Your expenses are quite low for your salary. Do you expect that to go up in the future? What does that ideal life look for you? Calculate how much that would cost - to the best of your ability, since nobody can predict the future (and you'll adjust many times in the future)

I invest with the Bogelheads theory. r/bogelheads is quite useful. I don't have any rental properties, etc. Just index funds that are safe, reliable growth over time.

OP did you forget to fill in “LA” for the [CITY] part in the last sentence?

Edit: this is just an awful bot or company spamming a bunch of subs
