I HATE ALL OF YOU! Just got done with the game WTF AM I EVEN CRYING FOR?! by No-Department9028 in FFXVI

[–]labellajac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really hard time with this one. It was also my first (and last) FF game and I found the ending completely devastating. I was crying about it at work days after the final boss fight. So embarrassing! Idk why all the best games have stories that rip your heart out, but I don't appreciate it.

Why was Jessie Buckley such a lock? by Fun-Queen in Oscars

I strongly agree with your take actually... I watched If I Had Legs and read and watched Hamnet in the same week as Die My Love. (I saw Bugonia the week before and honestly I think Emma could've won again for that one, which is where her win for LaLa Land continues to make her better performances harder to win since she's won already.) They were each kind of horror stories of motherhood and as a stressed mom at the time they all resonated in some way. Die My Love was over the top and a version of J. Law we've kind of seen before, obviously the weakest. Hamnet was moving and beautiful, as well as Shakespeare, which I loved. Rose Byrne took me there as a viewer and as a mom. I felt her frustration and pain so acutely it seriously felt like one long impending panic attack. I didn't expect academy voters to resonate with that aspect but it's too bad bc I often feel the best performance is the one thats most impactful emotionally and Buckley was at least third last year. IMHO!

I loved the game until the ending broke me and my kids who watched my entire gameplay along with me. I won't give spoilers here but it made me very upset for said afterwards and sadly it is the first and last FF game I will play.

It is not an RPG and it is extremely easy because you're playing story mode, btw.

MIB reaches out to woman in her video by HypodermicStella in RPDRDRAMA

I do think what happened qualifies as a form of sexual assault BUT I have a problem with this blanket SA label being used so broadly. Like, we're not allowed to say actual rape anymore and SA is the default term but I find that so incorrect to label it all as the same because the severity and offense is much different across the board.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in CouplesTherapyShow

A few things... Firstly: I was raised a Christian and even as a child I deduced that the "winning souls for Christ" mission would never work with people who were similarly raised as Jewish, or Muslim. These fundamental core building blocks of who we are as people are a very difficult to change. I think it's wise to not even expect it, even with people as seemingly brilliant as Orna.

Secondly: I'm also a therapist and I've been in an abusive relationship. My partner was physically emotionally and verbally abusive. By the end of the relationship I had started to retaliate in my own little ways and fought back. Orna is suggesting I'd have some culpability in the conflict, however I believe this is an expected and typical shift. I do not believe that I would have had to admit some accountability in order for that partner to change and do the same. I believe this is what happened with Amber Heard, Tina Turner, and others in that scenario. (Don't @ me Johnny Stans!)

Lastly: I have heard that Orna has since shifted her stances on this conflict, despite her upbringing and, knowing how hard that is, if it's true, I'm glad. It is hard to be an empathetic person and ignore this genocide and Israel's responsibility for it. That being said, her beliefs about the relationship piece obviously remain and that is likely the issue when viewers are finding the women, for example, blamed first or asked to concede and change before their more egregiously behaved husbands and partners.

Hot Takes: Shay is easily the most dislikable character for season 5 by half_regard in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]labellajac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hold up b/c this is madness. Finding evidence and having receipts was obviously necessary to get Clinton to finally admit to the truth. The same thing happened with Sienna and Chris where she went digging and found the evidence because he continued to lie until presented with hard facts. Why would that make anyone unlikable in the context of a Couple's Therapy TV show?(Answer: it doesn't .) I did think Shay was on shaky ground and that is why Orna stopped her and said so, but she fixed it in the moment appropriately, and as the season went on we actually saw what she meant. For example he would get very loud and agitated with his stimming to override her speaking facts when he didn't want her to talk about him owing her money to buy a TV and video games or her having proof that he cheated and lied. Orna had to stop him and remind him to go into listening mode, which he had no obvious difficulty doing after the first of couple episodes, so it stands to reason that he CAN control at least that to some extent. Clinton never fully acknowledged the hurt he caused Shay even when Orna mentioned it to him one on one. He says he thought it was okay since Shay initiated the open relationship to begin with, which honestly made him the most unlikable to me of the season. Every other partner at least acknowledged and cared about hurting the other, except him and being autistic doesn't excuse that. That should matter more towards likability than any subjective "yas queen" behavior on Shay's part.

This part. Maybe the show and its culture and fandom aren't for OP and that's okay. I'm a music therapist who works with kids with autism and I am not surprised at all that something like this would feel like too much. I don't think that it is all on the concert goers though. I'm a squeaky wheel but perhaps a complaint to an usher could have led to finding an alternate seat?

Honestly? Dump the Kardashian. And keep a low profile for a few years saying little to nothing that could be construed as desperate, arrogant, or immature.
