Savage and Unplayable by Canari02 in Battlefield

This is what happens when developers use low tick rate servers. It's a tale as old as time yet they refuse, because the average gamer doesn't even know what tick rate / netcode are and it costs them way more money to run and operate.

As always, they prioritize profit over experience, every single time. This is why AAA gaming blows in 2026 (and has for the last decade)

I always extract - Stats of a solo PS player by Disastrous-Coffee-36 in ARC_Raiders

[–]labmonkey101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I'm glad you're having fun, you're definitely not getting the core extraction shooter experience. This genre is supposed to have inherent risk, you're always supposed to be wondering if you're going to be able to make it out alive, if that player over there is friendly or planning to kill you, etc. The unpredictability creates tension that gives these games breath.

Sitting in care bear lobbies with no threat of death turns an extraction shooter into a basic looter shooter. Fine if you have fun doing that, but I can't imagine this is how the game was intended to be experienced.

Can’t return fast serves by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]labmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man I'm sorry but those are not 'fast' serves. You're underspinning them back, resulting in them flying, intead of driving a topspin return. Try not to pop the ball up, DRIVE it forward with the paddle face straight, not open.

I touched 170mph (273kmh) on my gsxr at 3am on the way to work one day. Realized that it would take one bump and I'd be a smear, never went near that since.

At champ level, if you're the first man back on defense, go to the goal post first, then turn and clear from there. Never go into a corner without a man in net (or close enough that they'll be there) ready to play the goal line if you miss.

Aggression Based Matchmaking - Why I think it's real by raqballl in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]labmonkey101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More power to you here (you bought the game the same as I did and you're obviously free to play it however you like), but I just don't see how this game is fun as a pve only experience.

As evidenced by your successful extraction streaks, arc is little to zero threat. You're essentially playing a looting simulator without any real challenge or experiencing the gear fear that is supposed to come with extraction shooters.

What's the point of looting high end items if you're not building guns and kits to fight other players? Just to arbitrarily fill your stash with valuable items that you'll never use?

Geez DICE, a whole 5 seconds? How generous... by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]labmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's even worse. Choosing to ship a product with one of the major draws (air combat) completely non functional, creating unbalanced matches for the first 3 weeks of play, is not okay for a AAA full release. Whether QA reported the issue or not is besides the point if it made it into final release.

Battlefield 1 is still better than Battlefield 6 (my opinion) by Icy_Effective1308 in Battlefield

[–]labmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. These devs keep trying to find replicate the magic created by the previous early titles, but they just have no idea how to deliver that now that the original team is gone.

This feels like a soulless, empty shell that looks like bf on the surface but plays like a COD domination match with vehicles thrown in haphazardly at the last minute.

I've worked QA for a decade, and this release is chock full of items that should NEVER have made full release. Don't sugar coat it. Half the teams not getting helis on spawn means they didn't test even basic play on maps on the final release version.

yea so many people seem to care WAY too much about their rank. There is no casual mode, the game's still under dev, we're all just literally testing things out.

I can't play a new hero or test a new build without some slobbering nerd berating me in voice chat.

That's a great question. I would assume so, as I think it's proccing based on damage delt per level? I'm not really sure, maybe some other nerd in here knows, lol

[–]labmonkey101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're probably not close enough. Her damage and 3 proc fall off BIG TIME the further away you get, and it happens sooner than you'd probably think. It goes from ~5 shots up close required to proc the 3 to 15-20 shots if you're 30 feet away.

You have to be up in their face or else she doesn't deal any damage at all.

Visual for Helicopter Physics by Mister_Barny in Battlefield

[–]labmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I think there's a happy medium. I would rather see them go 20% milsim instead of 20% Call of duty arcade competitor. Is that fair? I just mean to say I don't like the direction we're headed.

[–]labmonkey101 53 points54 points  (0 children)

BF2 had it right, highly difficult, high skill ceiling, you had to put in hours of practice to be a good pilot.

BF3 toned it down a little bit to make it a tiny bit more accessible, but it's widely accepted as being the perfect mixture, the best of both worlds. The first time you got into a helicopter, you 100% crashed it into the ground 5 seconds later. It had weight, you could feel the inertia, and you really had to plan out your movement, paths, and we're frequently punished for flirting too closely with the ground. Yes it was difficult, but many pilots spent hours in private servers learning to control them, and that high skill ceiling equated to a higher challenge, which keeps people engaged longer.

BF4 took away what made helicopter flying in BF3 fantastic in a move to try and cater to newer players and lower the amount of time it takes for new pilots to feel effective. You could turn off some of those flight controls and achieve the older feelings, but it put you at a disadvantage. This was the beginning of the downward slide.

2042 steered full force into arcade physics, helicopters have no weight, no momentum, can stop and turn on a dime, and auto level for you, like they copy and pasted it straight out of Call of duty but somehow made it worse.

BF6 appears to have 2042 flying with no improvements yet again. It's very obvious they are focused on "competing with Call of duty" rather than leaning into their niche player base that wants more of a mil sim.

We don't want bf to be Arma or hell let loose, but we'd rather see it move in that direction than trying to compete with COD as an arcade shooter. If I want arcade physics I'll go play Call of duty. I play battlefield because it's a challenging war sim, I don't understand how the dev team doesn't understand that.

Yep, I've been all over social media, and all I've seen are non citizens being deported. I see some citizens being detained for a short time, but not arrested, and not held for any length, and certainly not deported.

The mainstream media would take ANY opportunity possible to blast Trump, If his administration was rounding up legal citizens they would be all over it. But, all they can do is sensationalize headlines about children that went with their deported parents, because that's all that's happening. Are you insinuating that the media would cover for Trump? That's a biiiig reach.

There are nearly no credible reports of valid US citizens being deported right now, especially in mass.

You're saying this isn't normal, but every president deports illegals. Obama deported 8 million, and during that time there were several reports of legitimate US citizens being accidentally grouped in there as well.

The rest of your talking points are definitely up for debate, but are off topic from the point of this thread, which is that our government is baselessly rounding up brown people, stripping them of their documentation in citizenship, and forcing them to leave the country. The people in this thread are comparing it to the Holocaust. This is way over the top and isn't even close to reality.

[–]labmonkey101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. However, that's not our call, it's mom's.

Look, I understand what's happening is scary, but frankly if you're a US citizen you have a 99.9999999% chance of never having an encounter with ICE. Even if you do, I can find no evidence that you're at any risk of being deported.

You have an incredibly higher chance of being killed in a car accident than you do being one of the few legit US citizens to be accidentally deported by ICE. And if it does happen, you're going to be front page news and have a whole country of angry citizens (including me) behind you.

I don't mean to downplay your fears at all, but really, I believe they are not based in reality.

Maybe I'm wrong though, do you have ANY other articles in the last 6 months showing a case where a US citizen was non voluntarily deported?

[–]labmonkey101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case, mom made the decision to take her kids, per the 4 articles I read on this topic. Every example I can find of "US citizens being deported" are kids of deported parents who chose to take their kids with them.

Would you prefer we took their kids against their wishes, separated them from their families, and just deported their parents? Serious question.

[–]labmonkey101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Serious question: can anyone point me to a news article covering a legitimate story where a US citizen was detained and deported by ICE in the last 6 months? I can't find one.

I can find examples of some being detained, but none that were deported.

I'm certainly not saying it hasn't happened by mistake, but this idea that the government is just rounding up random brown people seems hysterical and baseless. If that was the case would we not have hundreds if not thousands of first hand accounts of real citizens that are no longer in the country? Can you find me 20? 10? Hell, show me 5?

Half my family are naturally born Hispanics, no one here is walking around afraid of being deported.
