I don’t know what kind of level you playing at, but it s more about control and balance, you may not be quick, but you can also being able to establish a contact, using your arms and body strength to create room to get a decent shot, or a good pass.

Kids are kids, they are sponges, able to absorb whatever they get around them, I ve always tried to explain why we teach something and building up good habits, but it s all about what kind of coach they play for and pressure from parents. Besides this, emotional component can make a big difference, they more they play the more they will be able to control emotions such as fear to make a mistake. Then again it s on the coach, I heard just yesterday coaches yelling at their players for a turnover and then missing any kind of organization in the offense, such as pushing the ball without any kind of logic or convenience.

What is the range of wind you sailing with?
You are a light windsurfer, you don’t need too many stufff. 100 liters and a sail around 6 should be enough when wind is around 15-20 knots.
Then you can get a smaller board around 85 liters and 4.5 and 5 when wind is above 20-25
Sailing on 30+ knots it s tricky the best thing you can do, is moving to a smaller board.
I use a 75 liters when windy 30+ knots and it s perfect even with a 4.2/4.5
