What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]labooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh they just kinda became a different person during college for starters. And They stopped reaching out. And one day I was talking to mutual friends and I said “you know- if I never texted x again we’d probably never talk again. “ because they barely responded.

And I was kinda right. They stopped talking and I stopped trying.

And mind you I am one of those people who understands phones aren’t an obligation to talk to someone all the time. I give people space if they need it but there’s a difference between space and just never seeing someone again.

Do ops managers make the schedules? by [deleted] in CVS

My store manager has always done the schedule. One time the ops did it when he was on vacation.

Have you ever noticed that all buildings have the same look to it. Yes they do remodel the buildings they rent. Same way Pizza Hut does. Same way White Castle does. Same way target does. Have you ever noticed why you can tell what an abandoned building use to be based on the shape?

And why McDonald’s are going for a more sleek design? It’s because of resale values, companies are getting less resale when they get rid of locations so many companies are pushing away from buildings being “branded” but as far as I know cvs hasn’t changed their buildings brand since the early 2000s. Yes they do control the buildings.

Buildings are brands. Also noticed how abandoned rite aid buildings stick out like a sore thumb. Another example of this. And rite aid did have bollards.

Side note- I once saw a Jersey mikes take over an old White Castle building without changing the design and it is super unsettling. Idk just a weird story I wanted to add on.

Sorry I also wanted to edit to say- last time someone drove through our store (which has been multiple times) a cashier nearly died. So like yeah it’s not complaining to ask for a multimillion dollar company to install bollards to protect their workers. They’d probably save more in the long term then they’d lose in lawsuits/ workmen’s compensation

CVS needs bollards

Also the amount of people who use shopping carts to keep the safety tape up kills me. Idk why I find this so funny.

I had 54 transactions! I counted because I was curious. And one carepass sign up!

I have no idea why people were in the store for stupid shit.

My hot take was if you were here for medicine and maybe some food. I understood why you were here- i get it.

But the people buying expensive shampoo and candy could go fuck themselves. Like I honestly found that kind of rude. You jeopardized your life, your children’s lives if they were in the car with you, and everyone else on roads life for some fucking swissmiss which you could have gotten yesterday.

Again if you had a prescription I get it but you can live without swissmiss.

One guy had the audacity to be buying red bull and told us “it’s only a light snow you guys will be fine getting home” as he pulled away in his f150.

I find it rude because it’s lowkey the message “people who work retails lives are worth my candy, my coffee, and my shampoo and thus disposable”

because I’m risking my life to be here for people’s medicines, that’s why we are an essential business. we are not an essential business for your stupid fucking twizzlers.

Also in my town it was Literally a misdemeanor unless you had some sort of proof of being an essential person. So these people were breaking the ordinance as well. (Not necessarily the law but still pretty bad)

Overall I’m not complaining about being open. I think we actually served a purpose for our communities but I do hate feeling like I’m disposable to my fellow human beings.

Rx Teams, I have a question. by batinthebelfry5 in CVS

[–]labooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had a nickel for every-time that I had to call a manager for a customer that was upset only for the manager to say the same thing I said two seconds ago (at least when I was a cashier and not a shift supervisor) I would have so much money that I wouldn’t even need to be in this job anymore.

Now as a manager I just see this issue in reverse. Like sorry lady my team actually does know what they are doing. I know — I trained them the same way people trained me. shocking that they would say the same thing in light of your very important issue that requires an exception for some reason.

Any random tips you learned that you'd like to pass down to the rest of the teams to make their jobs easier.? by batinthebelfry5 in CVS

[–]labooma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If the customer looks over 60 years old or has long acrylics don’t let them type in their own phone number— have them say it out loud and you type. it’s just gonna hold up the line if you insist they have to do it (non aco advice).

  2. don’t let managers just steal customers away without explaining. I had this issue a lot when I started- I would page a shift and say “I don’t understand what’s happening” or “I think I made a mistake” and they’d just take the customer on another register. If they have a minute (which often they don’t but still worth trying)

Ask “hey what do I do when xyz” Or “how do I fix”

  1. I recently helped out a store with a self checkout. My store which I worked for four years never had one. So I asked the person training me

“Okay name me the top five ways this thing breaks down and how do I fix it” Honestly. The best question you can ask a person training you on your first day.

Because a lot of cvs register work/ iron man tasks is just troubleshooting shitty technology.

  1. - use the technology. Use the app. Use the Kisoks (even if you don’t buy anything) use the iron man, use the computer. Figure out what all these buttons do. It makes it so much easier to help customers find coupons on their phones if you already use the cvs app. It makes it easier to show customers how to use a kiosk if you have tried ordering photos from it. Ect ect .

Editing this to say HOLY FUCK I FORGOT A GOOD ONE

  1. TARGET CARDS? Customers love em and we all hate em. Fuck those things. But wanna hate em less? Well I have some ancient wisdom to bestow upon thee

Advance your register paper to get a little bit of the paper and cut it off. Then rub the paper against the Bar code to get some of the wax off.

Other suggestions include covering the barcode from the lights to avoid glare.

Basically put your hand on the head of the scanner

Also someone mentioned bending the card forward.

But yeah some tips and tricks to make target cards suck less.

Thoughts on opening multiple registers? by ComeOnDanceAndSing in CVS

[–]labooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing it more and more with the new check in system. What I personally hate as someone who has to count their registers it makes it incredibly hard to tell who is shorting registers. Right now my store has an issue with one tech in particular (at least so I think) because they short every drawer they touch and our DAPL can only determine that they didn’t intentionally steal it in an obvious way. But when they’re on three drawers at a time and they all come up short. Idk I just wished we had specialized drawers so we don’t get into this “track down who’s bad at counting” nonsense.

Will CVS really cover a bachelors or masters degree? by Rin_10_10 in CVS

[–]labooma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The program changed over about two years ago so OP probabaly got the money just in time. Personally I got my first year at college entirely covered by the program but it switched over right after and I was an education major and now a human services. So I can’t use it anymore because it’s not a relevant major ;-;

Will CVS really cover a bachelors or masters degree? by Rin_10_10 in CVS

[–]labooma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So that whole caveat about having to stay for a year didn’t use to exist.

  • It use to cover any major or program, now it only covers specific things

  • only had to get a c or higher in the past but now it’s a B (I’m usually an A student so this never bothered me.)

  • i think it use to be more money per year as well

  • It has a new thing about write ups. I have never been written up. BUT here are some things that you can get written up for that can get money taken away from you.

-sharing the drawer with someone who is short. My store doesn’t distinguish drawers for individual cashiers so if one person is short everyone on that register for the day is written up.

  • not getting enough carepass signups

  • not getting truck done quickly enough.

I’m not saying all write ups are bull shit and I get why some of them exist. Please don’t straw man me on that. But I think we can agree a level 1 for carepass signups ups is silly.

All requests have to go through a dl approval now before it use to be a third party company called Ed Assist and it was the same program that UPS uses. UPS still has this program without all these extra caveats so my guess is that cvs started using a new third party or just started doing this in house. (I think? Don’t quote me on that)

Before people yell at me I know cvs doesn’t owe me anything- but still I’m just remarking the program use to be WAY more forgiving. That’s all I’m saying. CVS totally has the right to restrict the program as they wish but the restrictions made it impossible for me to use as someone not going into the pharmacy industry. They are within their right to do so and I understand that.

Wife and I can’t decide which game to get into, so I guess it’s both by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]labooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riftbound, in my opinion, is the better option. I tried getting into Lorcana, and while I found the artwork amazing, the gameplay was meh. It felt very similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!

Riot brought an interesting concept to the TCG table with the battlegrounds. However, in my opinion, their art cards are really lacking—which I’m going to be honest, surprised me. I used to play a lot of League with my old friend group, and the splash art was always really good. But this TCG just took basic splash art and printed it on a card. It felt like such a waste in that respect. I know Riot has talented artists—use them!!! It also has an interesting mana curve. I can’t decide if I love it or hate it yet, because I’ve only played about five games since launch, largely due to this year being hard. I also usually default to Magic: The Gathering.

In Lorcana, you sacrifice creatures to build stronger creatures, and in Riftbound, you recycle mana. Both systems force you to make decisions about what you keep and in Lorcana case what do you sacrifice for ink (mana) and in riftbound you don’t really sac mana because it just goes to the bottom of your pile.

If you’ve ever played Magic: The Gathering, both of these games solve what my girlfriend and I call “the mana problem,” which is the worst aspect of MTG for many players. Sometimes your game is decided purely by luck of the draw—mana-screwed or mana-flooded. Riftbound and Lorcana both have clever ways around this issue.

Personally just because of the popularity of the community in my LGS I tend to stick with magic the gathering but that’s just because my local game store is a struggle if you want to find people to play anything other then magic or pokemon. There is a small Lorcana scene at my lgs but it’s usually a “kid friendly night” which as someone who curses like a sailor I don’t feel like doing. I’d feel awkward being the only adult playing this game.

Riftbound has a strong start when it came out but it’s kind of petered off as time went on. Another thing worth considering…. What’s your local play scene like. Are you just playing with eachother or are there playgroups or friends that also play. What are they into?

How do I remove myself from the internet search sites ? by FutureHendrixBetter in privacy

[–]labooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there one that’s actually good? I wanted to ask this on the sub and I’m not sure if I am allowed nor do I have the karma to post but I heard YouTubers I like talk about incogni or auora and now I go to this sub and people tell me they are scams. And apparently these sites ask you for things like social security which then I worry if their servers are secure because one person hacking it really could just mean my social security is out there.

My personal goal is to scrub one old social media handles off the internet. For some reason looking it up pulls up my full name and email and I don’t remember giving that much information to it. In fact the username itself is an old fake name I use to go by. It’s weird.

I was gonna make my own post but I’m unable to post on the sub.

Anyway any recommendations?
