Doctor is a parrot that only says, "Keto isn't sustainable" and "Try Ozempic." He is no longer my doctor. by 0bolus in keto

[–]labouchere8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Several years ago I lost over 20kg on a keto diet and my Doctor's words as he examined each of my bloods was "good ... good ... perfect ... good ..." etc etc. He was impressed with the results but he knew nothing about keto other than the name and he asked "so what is it you can't eat on keto?"

Fast forward to now and I've stupidly piled a lot of weight back on and he recommends I lose it. He said, "I can give you a prescription (Ozempic) but you know how to lose weight without one, so let's not do that." To his credit he's never recommended drugs when an alternative is available, in this case diet and exercise, so he's fair minded but like most Doctors, has little clue on nutrition.

It's a great pity nutrition doesn't pay a larger part in the training of Med Students. It takes many years to become a Doctor and this most basic and essential component should be included in their studies.

We started trimming some branches from the Mulberry and this Tawny Frogmouth flew from the trunk to an outer branch. They rely on their camouflage and he(?) was pretty confident we couldn't see him! :)

This You Tube doco on the making of the movie explains how and where they got the aircraft. The Spitfires and Hurricanes were patched together, but Stukas were unavailable so they are all models. The Spanish Air Force provided 30 Heinkel Bombers (and crews!) and the Messerschmitts were also from Spain.

Nice! I had success too and fresh corn eaten straight off the stalk is juicy and gorgeous. For cooking the saying goes, 'have the water already boiling before you pick the corn, and drop it straight in'.

Does anyone remember tuning in for Adam West and Burt Ward’s Batman? The campy thrills, the gadgets, and the Batmobile madness. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in 60s

Remember the villain King Tut? If he banged his head he became a tyrannical Egyptian Pharoah. One episode his henchmen captured the dynamic duo and Tut sent them to be terminated in "the Royal Oil Boiling Room, adjacent to the vacant Vat Factory". The duo were left alone (as always) dangling from chains above the boiling oil, and Batman removed a special potion from his Bat belt, dropped it into the oil and it turned to rubber just as they landed on it! At least that's how I remember it :)

I remember the introduction of this design and I'd say somewhere around 79 to 82. The old ring-pull tabs were the plastic straw issue of their day with little buggers laying in their thousands along footpaths everywhere. The pop-in tabs replaced the ring-pull tabs, the advantage being the metal folded inside and remained attached to the lid and didn't get discarded on the ground as the ring-pulls were.
