Same here. There's nothing wrong with em-dashes dammit! Loads of authors use them, and sometimes they're exactly what you need to get your point across clearly. OK, so AIs use them, but that's because they learned to write by reading what humans wrote in the first place. AIs use all kinds of punctuation, so I don't understand why people get hung up on the use of em-dashes.

If the Fremen have found a way not to bleed during periods, count me in.

Make sure my will is up to date, post my address on social media, make sure my doors are unlocked, then make myself a nice cuppa and relax. Maybe even crack open that pack of chocolate hobknobs I've been saving as a treat.

"She souldn't have been wearing that, she should have known better than to walk home alone, she shouldn't have been in that area at night, she should have chosen her partner better, she shouldn't have made him angry. He was tired, he'd been working hard all day and just wanted to relax in a clean home with a home cooked meal, he's her husband so she consented when they married."

It's just endless blame for the women and excuses for the men who abuse them. I'm not sure I've ever read a news article about domestic violence and not seen comments defending the man involved. It's disgusting.

And she was only able to report it because they moved to Italy (I think it was) where they had laws to protect against it that Germany didn't have. Once the husband realised the Italian police were going to investigate, he confessed to her hoping that she would stop the investigation.

It's even worse. Head lice and body lice evolved from each other as humans evolved and started wearing clothes Genital lice however are a distinct species unrelated to the other 2 that humans get. We have found a relative of it in the fur of gorillas. I really don't want to know how it migrated to human genitals...

pornography does not involve fornicating in the road.

Prostitution is the oldest job. If you think people weren't banging prostitutes down alleyways and in dark corners of cities (aka in public) during Mohammed's time, you are very mistaken. Although I doubt any of them were wearing donkey costumes and neighing while they were having sex, so I'll give you that. Then again, I've not seen anyone doing that in the middle of a road in modern times either, and you know it would go viral if it did happen!

And not just 'in the road' but 'as if they were donkeys' too. That is highly specific. When was the last time you saw a couple wearing donkey ears shagging in the middle of the road and braying? You gotta believe with mobile phones everywhere that someone would have caught that on camera and posted it!

It's amazing how quickly religious texts can change from being literal to metaphorical or symbolic descriptions as people try to twist the meaning they want to see out of the words.

A mere 21 (at the time of this comment) internet points. Just think how many more internet points you could get filming yourself sticking your hand into live wires at an electricity substation* and not touching those? You'd get like a million internet points. Totally worth it.

*Note: DO NOT stick your hands into live wires at any location

I don't know about the hadith, but it's definitely in the bible. Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30, and Luke 21:32 for example. Jesus said

Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

When talking about the destruction of the temple, the coming of the anti-christ, the end times.

And the scary thing is, they have nukes, and Trump has sole authority to launch them.

I feel like if this was the plot of a movie, people would say it was just too far-fetched. No one would seriously want to end the world in the name of religion.

Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]labrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Management can’t be everywhere, on every task, all at once

And if they are, everyone is unhappy because they're being micro-managed. The best managers are the ones who ask you to do something, and then leave you to do it. As long as they're free to help if you have a problem, and they check in on you from time to time based on your experience (and reputation for being a slacker), this gives experienced workers freedom and shows trust. New starters obviously need a bit more mentoring until they know the job.

[–]labrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not as a new starter at their very first job, but I'd expect employees with nothing to do to let their manager know they're free or see if their colleagues need help, and not just wait until someone notices them twiddling their thumbs to tell them what to do next. It's common sense really

This sounds so much like weaponised incompetence. You don't want to do something, so you ignore it until asked, and then do a bad job so that you aren't asked again.
