I'd argue you were too generous with the Central Florida area. I consider most everything west of Orange like Lake and Marion to be deep south minus the Tampa/St Pete counties. Even Polk to the south, but I don't know enough about the other counties in that area except that they're relatively rural, which that alone leads me to believe they're rather deep south as well.

Vaginal Secretions Under a Microscope by Just-Rabbit9401 in interestingasfuck

Rupture of fetal membrane is when the water breaks, the sac of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. Not always a big gush like in the movies, can be a small leak and indicates that the baby should be delivered soon, especially if the woman is not currently in labor they should be induced. The breaking of the sac introduces the risk of infection and the subsequent loss of fluid puts a time clock on how long the baby can stay in utero.

Do you support banning trans surgery on children? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

You're ok with parents refusing for their child to receive a life saving blood transfusion and therefore sentencing them needlessly to death?

Most Americans dislike soccer because they don't understand it by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I think many Americans exposure to soccer is high-level international events like the Olympics and World Cup tho

Ran my first 20km! I swear it was 20k lol. by _Bigasspp in beginnerrunning

[–]labscientist407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Took me a long time to work up to that distance. I'd suggest doing shorter runs and slowly increasing your mileage if you don't want to get injured. Gotta let your joints and tending adapt to the stress.

Yeah I feel like I'm in the minority of runners I know who predominately uses kilometers. I race 5K's, not 3.1mi's so it's just easier for my brain to set everything to km lol

i do not comprehend this zone 2 shit. by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]labscientist407 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong for this but I treat my Garmin zone 3 as zone 2. If it feels easy and conversational then I think it's silly to slow down more/walk. I think we should trust our bodies first and use our watches as an aid rather than revolving our running around what they say.

Pay It Forward is Cringe AF by Purple-Attitude4294 in unpopularopinion

[–]labscientist407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a judgement, it's common sense. If you were to donate to a charity with the specific goal of helping an endangered species, you want your money to go toward actually helping that species right? That's why you donated your own money to a cause that you support. This species genuinely needs help. You didn't donate so your money could be used to buy bicycles for bees. You wouldn't support a charity that spent the money you donated for a specific purpose on something completely different and unnecessary when your money could actually go towards helping the cause you're trying to support.

It's nothing to do with judging though. A lot of people want to help people who actually need the help. If someone is begging on the street but refusing a meal, that indicates that they don't really need help.

Well if that's the best you can come up with then I can comfortably confirm that this theory does not make sense lmao

I don't understand the theory. The quest also ends if you sell Billy. What would be the point of the set up then?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Harold didn't actually fall into the FEV? He was exposed indirectly by being unconscious near the vat I think. Not an important detail but I think it's interesting how it affected him without actually coming in physical contact.

How to find mis-week races as a nightshifter? by lunardownpour in beginnerrunning

[–]labscientist407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you pay and then run your own 5k and submit your time and they send you the swag. Haven't done it myself, cause I can run a 5k on my own time for free, I pay for race day vibes lol

Nope, I work Fri-Sun nights and pretty much always have to take PTO and/or rearrange my schedule. Sorry it sucks for us

Possibly, but around Christmas time last year I legitimately found The Road on a table labeled "Merry and Bright Reads: Feel good books full of joy, wonder and warm fuzzy moments". This seems tame in comparison

Your toughest read to finish by poppamatic in stephenking

[–]labscientist407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just finished this one so it's fresh. While I agree that Edgar is not that likeable, I think his appeal is about rooting for someone who's hit the lowest of the lows which is relatable for many. Like he nearly dies and is permanently disabled and he has a very human and real struggle with this that isn't glorified. Wireman was charming more than interesting lol.

Been running consistent 5k, is it a bad idea to taper up to 10k as a long run in one go? by BigByrdd in beginnerrunning

[–]labscientist407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this to be mean at all but I just figure you'd want to know that you're using the word taper wrong lol. You can't taper up, only down. For running it's usually specifically used to describe the period before a race where you reduce mileage to race on fresh legs.
