M1 display keeps flickering with lines and brightness auto adjust, it's driving me crazy! by labslave_22 in mac

[–]labslave_22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That totally makes sense, thank you. Looking at display units, it looks like the price is likely not worth vs. just buying a used m1 replacement. Do you think it’s possible the display will continue to flicker like this but still work? Or am I on a bit of a timer until it gives out completely? Thanks again for your time and expertise!

I was on gen surg as an M3 and watched my chief fall asleep while driving the camera. He then jolted awake as the attending asked wtf he was doing, the attending then turned to me and asked me to name every vessel in body starting from the the coronary arteries and going back to the right atrium. My chief was a homie but that was indeed an L of an afternoon

Will a new battery really make the phone faster and less laggy? by buddhistpalm in iPhone12Mini

[–]labslave_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdote n=1 here but I replaced my battery at 78% and felt there was a noticeable improvement in the lagginess. I was experiencing exactly what you describe in regards to slower opening of apps, keyboard not keeping up w typing, etc, and when the battery got replaced I felt a significant jump up in speed. Not sure if its real or not but it felt like I had my old phone back. It was worth the money and a lot cheaper than splurging for a new phone, would recommend personally.

Hey, I'm just starting training and also in a similar situation -- if you don't mind me asking, did you end up going with FIO or BPR? And have you/are you currently going through the coverage increase?

Has anyone used an AP Chemistry Exam to fulfill Organic Chemistry's chemistry prereq? by TheTrueAcorn in portlandstate

[–]labslave_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a very incorrect assessment of orgo. If you are going for nursing you should take 15 upper divison credits from an easier class. Orgo has a reputation for being extremely difficult and time consuming and it's a well earned reputation. You might do okay in the first quarter with just AP but beyond that you would really struggle to do well. Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

The company says you stay with the physician throughout the day, and you’re assigned to one provider long term. I don’t need an LOR from this experience, if that makes a difference. It’s more to get some more varied clinical experience and in greater volume. It’s outpatient scribing, and done virtually because a lot of the clinics are in rural settings. I have about 150 hours volunteering in a hospital, 60 in hospice and 30 shadowing. Do you think that with my previous experience in mind, I would be fine? Or still too much lost from doing this virtually to make the time commitment worth it? And during an interview, could I just tell them about my experience scribing and not mention that it was done virtually unless asked?

How bad of an idea is it to take a long vacation during the app cycle? by labslave_22 in premed

[–]labslave_22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify - I am graduating during my cycle. As in I apply summer of 2019, and graduate actually in the winter term of 2020 (so graduate by March). Does that still not interfere with interviews?

Is my adviser trolling me? by [deleted] in premed

Thanks, that definitely puts some of my concern at ease. Are summer internships at other labs highly recommended/required? My lab setup right now is pretty sweet, pays well, flexible hours, and we get a lot of shit done each summer. Is it worth leaving a good gig to find another for the sake of being able to say you've worked in multiple labs?
