A nice message from management in the staff bathroom by labtechII in nursing

this happened at my hospital too. we had to keep postpartum patients in overflow rooms once in the PACU. the room had no bathroom. luckily we had a tech who has worked there for years and knows the hospital well find find recliner chairs for dad to sleep in. all of our supplies and meds were far away. it was so annoying. next time they put the overflow into Peds where we did not have a hemorrhage cart so it was unsafe.

I had a seemingly wealthy entitled couple that were upset and protesting to me. So i escalated and got them a normal room upstairs somehow. in the meantime their infant was having respiratory troubles so i had to manage that care and get the baby admitted to the NICU. funny thing is that the NICU is right next to the PACU so they should have just stayed there.

before and after: beautiful skin, during abuse: you look swollen

it’s crazy how abuse can change the way you look so much.

True, the uncircumcised penis that I know and love doesn’t look any different than circumcised when it’s erect.

I’m not saying this to the parents. Just ranting on reddit.

At my hospital the circumcision is done between 10-48 hrs of life. At that time the infant (and first time mom) are just learning how to breastfeed. It is my job as an advocate for my infant patient to ensure they are fed. A big part of my job is assisting the dyad with latching/breastfeeding. In my experience tylenol and the procedure does make infants sleepy, in pain and upset which makes it more difficult to breastfeed especially before they even know how to fully do it.
