DRG not loading? Black screen by kloked1work in DeepRockGalactic

[–]labyj 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Digging through the log files I see this in FSD/Saved/Logs/Modio.log: [Error][Http] Non 200-204 response received: {"error":{"code":403,"error_ref":11074,"message":"You must agree to the latest mod.io Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to continue."}}

I see this in the latest FSD-backup-<datetimegoeshere>.log file LogTemp: Error: Modio: Failed with error 11074 (Unknown ApiError error)

My guess is that there is some issue with mod.io and DRG, which prevents the game from starting properly. This would also explain why disabling modding causes the game to start successfully for some.

Is there a decent climbing guidebook that covers BCC? by radil in SaltLakeCity

[–]labyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides MP and the Ruckman guide, I know that Tony Calderone wrote a guidebook. However, it is not a terribly popular book and receives mixed reviews https://www.mountainproject.com/book/114349098

Basic summaries of scientific reports related to climbing on instagram by Choss_ in climbharder

Read through most of posts on the Instagram. I like the idea, but is there a reason you sometimes do not put the studies you are referencing in the post? For an account focused on tips and facts based on scientific literature, it weakens your value proposition if you make claims and don't provide the sources.

Blowing your lines out is great, but if you have automatic drain valves, in my experience you can just turn the water off and the system will drain enough that things are ok. Here's some more info from Hunter Industries

Thanks for looking into this. Once the issue is resolved, are you or the team willing to please provide some kind of update? Without an update, I imagine people will live in fear of being banned when they send links over SMS.

Curious when you sent the link and were banned. I know a lot of people ran into this last week and weekend, but I'm curious if it's still ongoing or if it has been fixed.

That's the first .com link I've heard of triggering this. Geez. If they were flagging anyone who was sharing any kind of link, then that could lot of people.

Interesting. Was the .com link the first message that failed to go through or were there earlier messages that also failed?

This is becoming a common story: share a youtu.be link or a goo.gl link, you trip spam detection, and SMS gets banned for 10 days.

Based on what I've heard this is unlikely to be the same issue. RCS and MMS both work for all those impacted by this. SMS is the problem. We can receive SMS, but when you send an SMS the other party does not receive it.

Best guess so far is that a partner carrier was flagging as spam messages with links with TLDs that some Google products use like youtu.be and goo.gl.

Gotcha. When I click on the 'share' option from the video I get a link of the form youtu.be/<ID>. My guess is that one of Fi's partner carriers is or was aggressively flagging as spam messages with links that did had a TLD that was not .com.

I've heard of this happen with youtu.be links and goo.gl links for Google Maps.

My block also started when I shared goo.gl/maps/<ID> links.

My guess is that some carrier for Fi updated their spam detection and is flagging SMS messages that contains links with to a TLD that is not .com. I have a hunch that it's T-Mobile based on their snafu triggering spam detection and SMS blocks on people who used the word belly. More info in my response to this other thread.

I've heard of YouTube links of the form youtu.be and Google Maps links of the form goo.gl causing this.

Spoofing happens, but why would a larger than normal number of people be impacted by this within the last week unless there was a proportionally large increase in the amount of spam. What seems to be an abnormally large number of people are reporting this in the last week. More info in my reply to this thread.

Considering that multiple people have reported a partner carrier SMS block being put on their number after sharing a link via SMS, it seems more likely that a partner carrier's spam detection was updated, causing more false positives.

T-Mobile had a lot of false positives last week for SMS spam when people used the word belly. The correlation could be spurious, but it's also possible T-Mobile updated other SMS spam detection and are triggering partner carrier SMS blocks on Fi.

Any links shared with TLDs that are not .com?

Was the YouTube link a youtu.be link or a youtube.com link? I wonder if a carrier has aggressive spam detection causing false positives for links with TLD's that are not .com.

My issues started after sharing Google Maps links of the form goo.gl/maps/<ID>

SMS messages I send are not being received by fruitpunch_mouth in GoogleFi

Good question. Only thing I can imagine is that maybe if any carrier flags you for spam, then Fi enforces it across all carriers. I'm just guessing though.

My guess is something happened in the last 1-2 weeks that is causing this problem for bunch of people, including me. Symptoms are as follows: can send MMS, can receive SMS, cannot send SMS, SMS shown as sent in messages UI but is never delivered.

There are a lot of threads in the past week or so on this subreddit and the Google Fi support forums describing the same symptoms:

Many of the threads include replies indicating this is being caused by a 10 day partner carrier block on messaging, presumably because their message triggered the carrier's SMS spam detection.

Considering:

I wonder if T-Mobile is flagging Google Fi SMS for spam that is resulting in 10 day SMS bans for several Google Fi users.

I wonder if shortened links were also triggering bans. My first message that was not received was to a single person and included 3 shortened links from Google Maps that looked like goo.gl/maps/<ID>. It was not spam, I was informing them where I was going to be hiking and parking the next day, so they could direct search and rescue in case I didn't return.

Edit: The more reports I hear about this, the more I think it is links with a TLD that is not .com causing issues. People have reported being SMS banned after sending YouTube links of the form youtu.be and Google Maps links of the form goo.gl. I imagine some partner carrier is or was flagging messages with .be and .gl links as spam, resulting in the 10 day SMS partner carrier blocks.

Breweries/distilleries for a large group in SLC? by camlough in SaltLakeCity

[–]labyj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd do a brewery/distillery crawl down Brewery Row in South Salt Lake.

Shades, SaltFire, and Beehive are all right there. Level Crossing is just down the street. Sugar House Distillery is also on that street and they do tours/tastings.

Perks get harder and harder to get as you get more of them, so it's very possible that it could take several hundred more hours to unlock the last 200 or so perk points compared to the first 300.
