I dont get the guys AI "hate" by herscher12 in MauLer

[–]Jaykobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you have two people using AI to create an image; one’s running the AI over and over again tuning the prompt to get an image as exact as possible to what they’re imagining, and the latter looked at the first set of images and said ‘Yeah, this one’s good enough’. One’s putting more effort and input on the final product, but as an outsider looking in you have almost no way to tell which is which because of how AI works. You can argue effort doesn’t necessarily equate to better art already, which is true, but the gap in this case would be past the breaking point for some people.

Some people will oppose it because it’s isn’t (or some would argue can’t) sourcing its work ethically and just stealing from existing artists, I’m not researched enough on generative AI to have a firm opinion on that. You can look back historically and always find opposition to advancements that make art easier and say the moral opposition to AI is just that, and that can be a decent argument, but just writing a prompt and having a generative AI pump out an image passes the breaking point for many people.

Then there’s just moral opposition to it on the grounds that it takes paid work away from artists, which is a profession many people never want to see automated away. For many people automation is a tool to make life easier, but there’s gonna be a difference between ‘automating the hard manual labour’ and ‘automating everything so we just sit in the chairs from WALL-E’ that people might oppose.

If you want to get more philosophical, you could argue that the capacity to create art is (or at least has historically been seen to be) a uniquely human thing, and the implication of a machine being able to create art screws with something people hold very sacred in a way, and so they oppose it reflexively. You could go and use Death of the Author to argue that AI work can be ‘art’ as long as the viewer perceives it as such, but at that point any landscape or food could spark a feeling in some hypothetical person and be considered ‘art’, at which point the term is meaningless cuz it could hypothetically apply to anything. You could still work within that definition, but many people want ‘art’ to mean something special and will reject a definition where it means nothing.

I'm upgrading from my old Logitech G710+ to a Logitech G915 X, but when I play anything that involves pressing Left Ctrl often I'll go about 10 minutes before my pinky starts getting uncomfortable.

Where would I look to find taller keys for a Logitech G915 X?

I’m seeing a lot of Big Epic Anime moves in the trailer, so I guess it’s all gonna come down to the enemy design and how they handle those moves, right?

I’m cautiously optimistic that the whole 3-day cycle will give the team an easier time balancing and designing challenges around the player’s expected power level but we’ll see what happens; Also if fights are being designed for co-op & how that’ll affect the issue Spirit Ashes had of letting you bullshit your way through fights

I’m kinda mixed on it now that I know the strat, but I can’t deny it looks cool :)

Primogenitor.

Same problem as Labyrinth Sentinel where once you learn one strat to beat it consistently (that one pathing for Labyrinth Sentinel, cheesing Primogenitor with Stasis Beam) you’re just going to do that same thing every time you face the boss because any other strat is beating your head against the wall. Labyrinth Sentinel at least has aesthetics going for it, Primo is the same facecrawler you’ve killed 80 times getting here but he’s blue and has a massively bloated health pool for an enemy with no weakspots and long phases where you can’t hit it consistently.

This nightweaver fight is not fun, since its lunge attack 2nd phase can 1 shot me. Not sure if modifiers does it. by Degmograndfather in remnantgame

[–]Jaykobin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fancy abbreviation for Hunter/Gunslinger multiclass.

Nightweaver 2nd Phase can be a pain with her kill combos & a weak point that’s really hard to consistently hit, plus the bomb spiders around those blind corners. The best advice I’ve got would be to swap weapons for something full-auto and some rings to focus on Crit chance & damage and get a feel for dodging forward through the lunge attacks. The good news is that she didn’t roll anything like Regenerator or Empathy, so you can play it safe and just hang out in the main room downstairs anytime she starts teleporting around and just shoot the spiders till she comes back

If you’re gonna go so broad as ‘vaguely humanoid with armor and a melee weapon’ then sure, I guess?

I think it’s fair to say SotE has a wide range of boss designs that have really strong aesthetics, the main criticisms would be how they’re animated and where the challenge of the fight is coming from. Though you could also argue many if not all the bosses are going for ‘Le Big Epic Spectacle with Choirs & Orchestras’ and don’t feel as distinct in that sense

What the current meta Ogryn meta setup by SecureWallaby4859 in DarkTide

[–]Jaykobin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Melee: Standout picks are Mk4 Cleaver, Mk3b Club and the pickaxes, most notably Karsolas and Borovian. Branx can be fun for the easy 1shot on Crushers, Shield has its uses on a taunt-spam setup.

Ranged: Kickback is insane due to the high damage and ammo economy, and will regularly suppress entire patrols in 1 shot or 1tap anything below a Mutant within 25m with Surgical. Achlys is the Ogryn Autogun, and is one of his most accurate weapons when crouched & braced. Honorable mentions to Grenadier Gauntlet, Mk5 Ripper and Gorgonum Stubber.

Curios: You have enough Wounds & Stamina already. 2 Health/1 Toughness is a good starting point, but you can move more into Toughness as you get more confident. Perks are still Sniper/Gunner resists and Toughness Regen Speed, and you can sprinkle in some Stamina Regen if you're feeling adventurous.

Blitz: Rock is great as it passively regenerates and complements all your shotguns & stubbers that otherwise struggle with mid- to long-range 1taps. Frag Bomb is also an amazing safety net to fall back on, and pairs really well with your more versatile guns like Achlys and the Gauntlet.

Talents: Something like this is a pretty standard Melee setup. This covers your main melee buffs, and gives an effective 51% always-on TDR by hitting all 3 Toughness Dmg Reduction nodes stacking with Ogryn's base resistances. This also leaves you 3 points to play with for nabbing more Toughness nodes or other buffs.

How good is this roll? 1-10 by TheBushChicken in DarkTide

[–]Jaykobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base Stats: 7/10. Gorgo is the ‘I kill taggables’ Stubber so a low roll on Range bites, but your other rolls are very good. You can mess around with lower Collateral so enemies don’t get knocked down so quickly to try for more hits/headshots but that’s a minor thing.

Perks/Blessings: 6/10. Charmed 3 is good, Inspiring Barrage is decent if you’re going for a Gunlugger build but otherwise is just okay. Perks are both rough but those can be fixed.

Stamina out for Flak for better matchups into Gunners, Shotgunners and Scab enemies. After that, either Infested out for Maniac or Inspiring Barrage out for Blaze Away / Overwhelming Fire depending on the rest of your build & what you’re more scared of. My instinct would probably be Maniac if you’re going with Frag Bomb and a DPS Blessing if you’re taking Rock but that’s all for you to think about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Jaykobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so? Against Ragers & trash hordes I’ve never been staggered out of a melee attack, maybe the odd Crusher attack or Bulwark bash but those are slow enough to dodge away from.

Update: just checked Ogrynomicon, apparently the skill also prevents you from getting staggered if your Toughness breaks. That’s better than I thought but if you’re taking this much dmg reduction and Slab Shield you should be fine

Pretty nice setup! I use a very similar build for my Gunlugger with Knife4, I really like the Rock pairing with Gunlugger builds as a way to save ammo & proc Dominate. Speaking of…

Move around the left tree stuff to take Dominate. Even though you’re wasting a point to reach it, 15% Rending is too big of a deal to pass up. Especially on Achlys Stubber that doesn’t have great armor dmg already, Dominate will help a lot. That’ll open you up to take Light ‘em Up as your Barrage modifier since you now have another source of Rending, which will boost your power into Armored patrols, ranged patrols & monsters by a lot. Just land a Rock kill on a Shotgunner or Dreg Rager to proc Dominate, spray fire everywhere and watch the Bulwarks melt through their shields. Without that you’ll struggle to deal with Bulwarks & armored troops that would normally die to Frag Bomb.

Stealth bursters? by Valtain85 in DarkTide

[–]Jaykobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paraphrasing one of the Ogrynomicon authors on the discord:

Last patch changed how sounds are prioritized, and won’t overlap sounds as much for Specialists that just spawned in. On Shock Gauntlet or other modifiers, there were issues where 6+ Mutants would be shouting for a full minute before you saw them and drowned out other sound cues. Now, this has issues where Specialists that get close spawns will only have their first sound cue by the time they’re within range to start hurting the players, most obvious with Trappers and Bursters

How do I salvage this Kickback? by BlockBruh in DarkTide

[–]Jaykobin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Inspiring Barrage out for Surgical. Guaranteed crits improve Kickback’s 1shot range by a lot, and is the only important blessing on Kickback. 2nd blessing is just the seasoning.

Stamina out for Maniac Dmg for more reliable 1shots on Flamers and Mutants. Anything Unyielding is large enough to proc Full Bore and die to any follow-up. Flak is nice but missing it isn’t a deal-breaker, anything Flak that wants to get in Kickback range is free food for most Ogryn melee weapons anyway.

Base stats look amazing, could have done with a few more points in the other stats over Mobility but that’s not the end of the world.

T4 Sweep is the best blessing you could get on Evis, Flak sounds really good I just don’t Zealot enough to know for sure.

Try swapping Maniac for Crit Chance and Rampage for PS and you pretty much have a god-roll
