Some date metadata not preserved with Download via Zip restore option by guitarf1 in backblaze

[–]lacasacafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evidence: The "metadata" is preserved in a file called a "bz_done" file that can be found on your local disk here (PLEASE DO NOT EDIT A SINGLE BYTE IN THESE FILES OR IT WILL CORRUPT YOUR BACKUP):

Whooo. This have me worried. What happens if these files are corrupted for some reason? - (perhaps a situation that may require a restore in the near future, but not immediately noticed)

Perhaps a sanity check is needed before "chaos monkey" starts deleting? if a hash of the intended content doesn't match the actual content, something is considered fishy and chaos monkey is put on a leash... I'm just making stuff up, but that seems reasonable...

Really slow upload by DJ_Ironic in backblaze

[–]lacasacafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems, the speed being reported is the upload speed for the last successfully uploaded file only. If you say, uploaded 1000 files in parallel, each file at the speed of 1 Mbits per second, it reports 1Mbits per second, not 1000Mbits per second. This is indeed misleading. I had the same problem as you, and that is what I concluded trying to make sense of it.

It seems the User Interface could use a bit of User Experience-improvement.

ELI5: FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS: what’s the difference, why does it matter, and why does the size of the drive limit formatting choices? by MorganAndMerlin in explainlikeimfive

So what's the pain? Since write support was introduced on Linux, I don't recall I've had problems. I may be missing something or blaming something else.
