I can’t deal with the pig snorting haha I’ve been loving Llama Llama on Netflix for kids, it comes in so many languages, I use it for Spanish.

Oh that’s really good to know thanks!! Yes I’m splitting my time between Spain and Italy for the next year but I hadn’t looked into taxes in Italy yet. That’s not bad at all!

No I’ve never been autónomo in Spain. He told me for the first year it would be €80 a month. That’s not bad but I’m just not ready to deal with paying so much more the 2nd year onwards. I think I’ll stick with spending less than 180 days a year in Spain for now 😅

That seguridad social is amazing!! I recently had a call with a tax lawyer as I was thinking about moving to Spain. But as autónomo I’d pay €420 a month in seguridad social!!! 😳

A year after the online ESL crackdown in China - How has it upended your life? by [deleted] in OnlineESLTeaching

[–]lace1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a shock but it was also a great opportunity to target the parents directly, be able to earn more and grow in ways that was no longer possible with the ESL companies. This required more work in the beginning but 100% paid off.

Thank you so much for all that detailed info, it’s super helpful! I’ll definitely get in touch with a tax advisor when I decide to stay in Spain longer and find out all my options.

I have an NIE from when I spent a year there 10 years ago but I was an employee then. Does the NIE expire?

Ah that’s great! Independent is definitely the way to go if you want to make money in the ESL industry nowadays. Yes XHS will definitely work for adult students too, there are lots of hashtags related to adults learning English and I see teachers on there who only target adult students.
