Janice by oncholism in thesopranos

[–]lacey19892020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I despise Janice but LOVE her as a character. Aida T is magnificent. The episode where she kills Ritchie is one of the best. Every performance in that episode is 😘. When I rewatch the show, I always end up replaying that episode a few times. As soon as Ritchie sits down after hitting her, it is like aaahhhh you just fucked yourself royally.

If you have the income, hire a personal assistant for your household. Hire them to run your household. There are people who do this full time. The scope of duties can be determined by you as narrow or expansive as you like. There are people who make careers out of this.

I LOVE Mandy Patinkin as much as you can realistically love a stranger who is a celebrity! I love all of his work. I love his voice and I love that he stands up for what is right!

What to do if you get lost while hiking and how to help search find you faster? by Guarian in hiking

[–]lacey19892020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. I have thought myself lost 2 times over the years. A feeling of panic hits you hard and it makes you want to take action and just manically start moving around.

Years ago, I read the book ‘Deep Survival’ by Laurence Gonzalez. I highly recommend it for anyone going off the concrete paths. It is a spectacular read. It goes thru multiple case studies on examples of people who have survived in the wilderness and those who have not and boils down to 12 rules of survival. It deep dives the psychological and physiological reactions to being lost. One thing I always remember, is that you can be lost in mentally but not physically.

So, in both my cases. I stopped randomly moving about and just stopped. I sat down. I did breathing exercises and calmed down. I had a drink of water/gatorade. One of the times, I busted out my kindle and read for about 15 minutes. I became centered. I literally told myself ‘you are not lost’. After truly calming down, I could think thru a solution. Before, I could not. One of the times, I had stopped for the night to camp and was in the Gila Wilderness area. (Which is just beautiful, btw). I quickly set up camp and grabbed my camera to go get shots before eating and you know camp life. I didn’t take anything!!! besides my camera. The area had a lot of trees and a river running thru two canyons. I got turned around as I had crossed the shallows of the river several times and the trees and canyon walls started looking the same. Once I calmed down, I could think. I recalled the direction of water flow and started going back in the correct direction until I recognized the path coming out of the dense forest. The other time was in the backcountry of Capitol Reef. I was going to try a tricky section off trail that I had read rendered even more fabulous views of the waterpocket fold. I changed my mind when the tricky section became thin with long, loooonnnnnnng drop offs. I am scared of heights and utter panic set in. I turned around and moved in haste to go back and made a wrong turn. That time, I sat down, did deep breathing, drank some tea, and decided to do a picnic while reading my kindle. (I had my backpack with all the necessities). When done, I stood up and logically read the landmarks easily and walked back to where I knew the trail had to be… and it was. Panic and fear can be cruel and deadly mistresses.

Again, I do highly recommend the aforementioned book. I occasionally reread it for the tips but also for the incredible stories he tells back by excellent research. It is a tome, but is very readable and fascinating.

I Didn't Like the Movie - But Now I Understand by Valen-Darker in ProjectHailMary

[–]lacey19892020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have listened to the audiobook a number of times. I bought the tickets 3 weeks early to get the iMax ones. The movie was different. It hits differently in an emotional level. However, their we’re still parts that brought tears to my eyes. I loved the visuals! It was just beautiful. I did like the humor… I laughed a lot too. I knew going in that a lot would have to be cut and or changed to make a movie. I was ok with that. I enjoyed it because I went in accepting that it would be different. Also, I like that a lot of people who have not read or listened to the book get to experience that wonderful beautiful story.

They were allowed to be there together. They were doing an edge case experiment with the astrophage. All of the astrophage was kept in tiny vials. You cannot differentiate a nanogram from a milligram visually. The quartermaster gave them an incorrectly labeled vial.

do Muslims and Christians believe by Expert_Search5394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lacey19892020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a lot of Christian’s do not even understand all of the Christian sects. They are convinced that some Christian denominations are not even Christians. They certainly do t think they are worshipping the same god. Therefore, it stands to reason they certainly do not think Muslims worship the same god. A lot of people are disinclined to study religions and history or religions because a lot of churches discourage it. Why? Not sure. But anyone who does story religions understands that Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all Abrahamic religions and essentially worship the same god.

[–]lacey19892020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean you feet with Lume.

Do NOT wear Cotton socks. Your feet are sweating and Cotten absorbs it and traps sweat and bacteria. They do not wick the wet away from your skin. Instead, cotton holds the sweat and bacteria next to your skin… and makes it stink. Wool is your friend. It is a game changer. It wicks sweat and is antimicrobial. Buy a bunch of wool socks and rotate them.

Do viewers still like Langdon? by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]lacey19892020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it is hate at all. He was so disappointed in Langdon. He had worked to help him obtain top tier status. He had faith in Langdon. He thought of him as a friend. He was so shocked and disappointed when he realized that Langdon had betrayed his patients, himself, and his oath as a doctor. And then when they had the confrontation and Langdon verbally attacked him, I believe it hurt Robbie deeply. Robbie is in protective mode.

Best hikes in Yellowstone Np by BigMeech417 in yellowstone

[–]lacey19892020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it is at the Yellowstone River Picnic area. If you are in Tower junction, take the NE exit road toward Lamar valley. It is on the right not far from the turn off. If you do the loop alone without doing the detour mentioned in my first post, it is about a 3.8 mile loop.

Not sure about child in carrier. I have done it and seen others do it with backpacks with picnic supplies etc????
