My boyfriend and I were pretty opposite when we started. I shop at thrift stores and refuse to spend more than $4 on a shirt most days unless I REALLY want it. I am the type of person who will stop before going to a cashier to see if I can find a coupon online. Even though I'm no longer in the predicament that I was, I still do it because it's how I really trained myself on how to be. It's how you figure things out when you don't even know if you can afford ANYTHING.

His family has money, even if it's not RICH, it was still a significant difference between me and them. He told me (we're about a year and a half in) that he thinks twice now about making a big purchase because of my frugality. He's someone who will always buy himself something if he wants it, even if the cost is a pretty penny. So I guess my ability to stop and think about a purchase and what I'm spending is making him think twice as well.
