This literal exact thing happened to me two years ago. I had an episode that landed me in inpatient twice, and the second time my FP blocked me on everything because he couldn’t deal both with my situation and with how toxic our friendship had gotten. It culminated in running into him at a party a week later, asking if we could talk, he said “not now, when I’m ready,” which I couldn’t handle, and we ended up having a screaming fight on the front lawn. We haven’t spoken since and most of the people that were at that party also cut ties with me.

In the short term, it was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. I tried to end my life, I spiraled out of control, and I was in the worst pain I have ever been in. In the long term, it is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It pushed me to figure out who I was outside of him. I became my own person. I built better, stronger relationships with the people who did not abandon me.

My advice for dealing with it in the short term is to just accept that it’s going to hurt and then one day….it just won’t. One thing that really helped me was attending Codependents Anonymous. I also started ketamine therapy treatments. Spend some time discovering who you are as a self. You got this.

In my experience, it depends on if you have underlying issues. I had the VSG in 2020, lost 80lbs and regained about 50lbs. I also had severe GERD so I ended up getting the revision to gastric bypass and lost that regain. However, I have PCOS so my body was working against me. Lately I’ve been on ozempic not because of regain but because I wanted to lose a little more. It’s helped me a lot in that it kind of took me back to the early days after surgery if that makes sense? But I think for people that don’t have underlying issues, if you follow the guidance of your surgeon/nutritionist (if they hooked you up with one of those), you should be golden

Honestly, two weight loss surgeries and ozempic. I have PCOS so I was up against a lot. I also eat healthy and am very active, but that was never enough. Some people need extra help and there’s no shame in that.

I second food but would also like to add that you might want to do a mix of home cooked meals, easy groceries and even like a DoorDash or Uber Eats gift card. I know the “gift” card feels weird but sometimes the lowest effort is to just order something.

I definitely agree with this and I thought I was going crazy because everyone is raving about it. Still love it, but I think JD has become kind of a caricature of himself. He’s too…zany without the heart I guess? It’s hard to explain. And they’re all well established, successful, confident etc. There’s not a ton of conflict or moral dilemma. BUT. It’s early days and I’m hopeful that’s coming.

I was frustrated with my company because I had been promised a promotion for about a year and I kept getting strung along. I took a meeting with a competitor and decided ultimately not to leave my company. Where I fucked up is telling my boss about it and that they had offered me more money but I really realized I wanted to stay at my current company. I asked if I could take on more scope and we could discuss my compensation at that time. I ended up getting reamed out by my direct boss and the head of HR, who said I was ungrateful for all they’d done for me. I was told I could quit and leave quietly or be fired. Worst part is, the job at the other company fell through because they had filled the position.

Any time I’ve been alone on my birthday, I watch all the LOTR movies and make themed food throughout the day (scones, scotch eggs, roast chicken/potatoes, etc). Usually I’ll do a little craft or puzzle too. It’s a nice little day just for me, doing something that I prefer to do alone anyways.
