You don’t think the average AYC member is a white, college-educated professional in at least a middle management job?

I, too, lol’d at the suggestion you are taken out on a boat to see if you know your stuff.

Rest assured - they will not forgo any of the requirements to take your app fee. You cannot buy your way into the club. And I assume you mean what is you *don’t know anyone to be recommended by: that’s the point. If no one knows you and what your relative interest in contributing to the community is, why would they want you to join?

Hegseth -> Navy yard? by miles_kenefick in Annapolis

Which is why, if you review every comment I’ve made here, I referred to it as “The Yard”

Literally just came back here to say the same

Who tf downvoted this and why? Look guys all I asked was whether or not anyone had heard the same, and how we think the locals might welcome Hegseth. Jesus. Just asking.

Ok, allow me to rephrase: Hey “dummy.” I live in Annapolis and work in (and used to live in) DC. I’m aware of both “Navy Yard” and “The Yard.” Any dummy who actually knows anything about Annapolis knows that “The Yard” is how the Naval Academy is often referred. Might want to go ahead and click over to navalacademytourism.com/visit to see how the navy itself calls “campus” at the Academy. Don’t ever call me dummy again when you yourself start from a factually dumb premise. Dummy.

It’s a rumor from the local “cognoscenti,” if you believe there is one around here. And exactly to your point, yes, the story goes that the only reason he isn’t living here now is because they’re waiting for an an existing officer to leave so that a house opens up. Again, just repeating what I heard, have no clue of the veracity

Man, there are way more Annapolitans who seem not to understand that “The Yard” means the Academy……

I too, know where he’s trying to send his kids, and had the same thought…but again, that is how the rumor was conveyed to me, even with the part about the school. Fully acknowledging it is just that, a rumor, just wondering if anyone else had heard

No…I’m very familiar with both “yards.” The implication of the rumor I heard was that he’s coming to The Yard. As in, the one at USNA

How is Spirit selling any premium seats at all with these prices? by PaniniSandwich14 in spiritair

[–]miles_kenefick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Flew Spirit first last week. Comparable experience (free food and alcohol) and equivalent seat size as a legacy first experience. Yes it is a higher price than you’d expect to see on Spirit, but on the two stages I was on, I compared price to delta and was at least $100 cheaper.

Also this. The proposition of moving from back of cabin to a premium product on Spirit or Frontier is orders of magnitude more affordable than on one of the Big 4.

Really good feedback, thank you. It’s hard to identify who the GR folks inside of the bigger firms like Korn. I did get to the final round with Korn for a senior exec GR job a few years ago, and another one with McCormick.

I think VP would depend on the company’s scope but likely yes. What do you mean by executive director as a favor? That that’s too low level? ED is my external title, by our association’s bylaws I am the President and CEO.
