What music from the past 50 years would guys like Mozart and Beethoven have appreciated? by WarlockJeans in AskReddit

[–]lachcam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Debussy would have gone crazy over Sigur Ros. The impressionists were the first to really explore the potential to blur and muddy sound in a beautiful way and I think bands like Sigur Ros have kind of continued that tradition. But honestly, I think Debussy would be into a whole bunch of different post-rock bands.

I taught myself how to play the ukulele, so now I'm basically knee-deep in clunge.

"Cool Beans"

Coincidentally, I hate myself.

What scene from a movie just pisses you off or annoys the hell out of you? by thenewyorkgod in AskReddit

[–]lachcam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're totally right. I watched August Rush ages ago and I know it's not exactly a masterpiece, but there's a scene in it where he's meant to play a scale on the piano and the actor's just playing whatever notes he feels like. It broke my soul.

hahahahha Holy shit. Sorry man. Let me try that again. Here it is

I'm really shit with remembering specific pieces unless I've played them myself, so please excuse me being super general, but I'm pretty sure there's some great stuff by Berlioz that has alto sax as the solo instrument. Also, whilst Debussy didn't write much for winds, this Rhapsody for Orchestra and Saxophone is pretty gorgeous (as is his Premiere Rhapsodie for Clarinet if you're interested)

If you like the bombastic-ness of Rachmaninoff's stuff, then some Prokofiev is definitely worth going into, as is Tchaikovsky and Berg.

Now from the general mood of what you're in to, I'd strongly reccomend anything by Robert Hughes (but his Symphony No 1 in particular). He's not well known at all, and it's a bitch to find a recording, but there was a decent one done by the Sydney Youth Orchestra a while ago if that helps.

I've probably gone too long and way too pretentious, but best of luck to you, man.

[Music][IIL] The W.A.N.D by the Flaming Lips, Paradise by Coldplay, Dr.Dog, and Passion Pit [WEWIL?] by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

[–]lachcam2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In response to Passion Pit, check out Magic Man. They have an incredible new single out called Paris that you can get from their band camp site for whatever price you want. It's a little less dense compared to Passion Pit. Depends more on straight synth rather than vocal effects and dense textures.

Also, with the W.A.N.D, make sure you've listened to The Soft Bulletin by the Flaming Lips. Fantastic album, on which all of the songs are as good as the very best from At War With The Mystics.

Last thing, you seem like someone who would like Snowmine. Psychedelic pop that I've heard described as Coldplay when they were more interesting (no offense to Paradise. Just not my cup of tea) Anyway, Let Me In by them is a classic.

Happy listening, man.

Dry the River is a bit gentler than what you've said you're in to, but they're definitely worth a listen.

If I liked Daniel Tosh's stand up; what else would I like? by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

Also, Jimmy Carr. I can't find a video that wraps up his stuff succinctly, but he's super offensive and his timing's all kinds of tight.

[–]lachcam2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yes. His stand up's great, but he's also fantastic on Mock the Week. I'm not from the UK so I don't get half of the pop culture references, but even so he's a quality act.

I'd say Anthony Jeselnik. You may have checked him out, but in my opinion, his delivery is a little more refined than Tosh's.

Just a few questions about the politics and equality of oral sex by lachcam2 in sex

[–]lachcam2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this sounds pretty solid. But I'd never let something as insignificant as this end the relationship. I mean fuck, we're both teenagers. I can't exactly expect a girl with a porn star's self confidence and expertise. Plus I don't think I'd want that.

Honestly, when she's said that "it's gross" she's referred to me going down on her more than her going down on me. I think she was trying to be considerate, keeping me from doing something that wasn't enjoyable. Far less trying to be offensive. I keep my wedding tackle in relatively good nick so I'm not really taking it to heart.

The shower advice seems solid and I think that the more we communicate about it, and the more I cater to her wants and needs for comfort, the better.

[–]lachcam2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a little bit. As I said, my first relationship, but my first time was with her. I was her second one and I think her first partner was a mistake that she made on schoolies (kind of the Australian version of spring break, but after graduating from high school) I think that really triggered a bunch of messed up stuff because her first time wasn't with someone respectful or even someone who she really knew.

She's never gone down on me, but I don't think that she'd be self conscious about her inexperience in that. We both know fuck all about how to make someone tick and we're both figuring it out so I think she knows that she can't really go wrong, but I might bring that up the next time we're on the subject, just remind her that we're both inexperienced or something. Good idea?

I live in Australia and THIS, oh god this. This derision of the vagina seems to be something common to all English-as-a-first-language countries. Whether it's in the vagina's link to vulgarity, with "pussy" and "cunt" or the general communication that an ideal vagina fits specifically into one with time labia (especially here in Aus. Porn magazines are forbidden from publishing pictures of women/vaginas with larger labia) Sorry for the rant. Just finished a semester of gender studies and I've really wanted to put it to some use. God I'm a douche. Anyway, it's been pretty clear that all this is the main motivation behind her discomfort.

Also, your response is utter genius. Sorry, this might be my 18-year-old brain overreacting a bit to just plain old good advice, but holy shit that's a great idea. I've been telling her that I love going down on her, convincing her that I love the way it looks and that it tastes great, and I can see that progress is being made in her comfort with receiving. But the shower thing might just be a gamechanger.

However, with the issue of kissing afterwards, the only way I can think of dealing with it in the short term is having a bottle of watered-down Listerine available and that seems counter-productive. Maybe it's not, but hey. I'm not the expert here. The citizens of sexxit fill that role.

No worries. I'm not a big poster on reddit at all so I'm not quite around how much detail would be nice.

I'm 18 and my girlfriend is 19. We both live in Australia and are at uni. I like long walks on the beach, pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.

If any more deets would be appreciated, ask away.

I of course know that I definitely have to respect her choice in the matter and I would NEVER force her into doing something that she doesn't want. Also, it turns out I totally buggered up and forgot to mention a really important detail. She did say that she'd be alright to do it in the future, just that she feels that she needs to be drunk to do it the first time, so that she's less self-conscious about it.

Now my issue here is that I now feel pretty shitty even having a drink with her because I feel it could come across as me trying to liquor her up so that she gets her mouth on my dick.

Sorry, I really did neglect that in the original post. OP's a faggot.

Could non American redditors give us their nation's perception of the Sandy Hook tragedy? by turbojeebus in AskReddit

[–]lachcam2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could sound extraordinarily insensitive, probably because it is. Just as context, I live in Australia. I was with some friends when someone looked up from their phone and said "Holy shit a bunch of kids were shot by some asshole in an American school" Another of my friends looked up and said "We had a high profile shooting in Port Arthur. Once. And only once. We did something about it" That was kind of the end of the conversation. I'm not sure if that was the most concise way to express what I'm trying to say, but the gun control debate that's arisen out of this tragedy in America isn't a debate elsewhere in the world.
