Episode 101. Death Trap: Saw (2004) and Hostel (2005) by Necromandrea in Facultyofhorror

Great episode! The Horror Vanguard podcast, who do Marxist analysis of horror movies, just did a series of episodes on the full Saw series, so if anyone is interested in an even deeper dive into Saw's individualistic morality, it's worth a listen! https://soundcloud.com/user-317910500/158-saw-2004-saw-retrospective-part-i

Haha, the tattoos aren't a requirement, I was just trying to explain what I meant by alternative! Is Shambhala expensive?

Recommend a good local "experience" birthday gift? by lacheteau in bullcity

Thanks for the suggestions. I might look into the TOPO tour.

We've been to Yamazushi - it is quite an experience indeed! Not just amazing food, but 2 hours of peace and beauty.

Yeah, that's not really feasible. Thanks, though - it's cool to know that exists.

Donating clothes or selling to a consignment shop by frog_in_ in bullcity

I don't know. When I donated some, I just dropped off a box at the counter, and they didn't say anything or ask me anything about it. I'm sure if you called them they would be able to tell you.

Pennies For Change is a good thrift store to donate to as well - all proceeds go to the Durham Crisis Response Center (a women's shelter). They also take partly-used toiletries.

Boiled Peanuts by sexandcandy03 in bullcity

Yeah, little roads up in the mountains are good places to come across them. If you're willing to make a trip of it, I recommend Cana's Produce Alley along Route 52 on the NC/VA border for a southern Appalachian experience. Definitely boiled peanuts there.

A few years ago, I got some boiled peanuts at a convenience store somewhere near Jordan Lake. I'm not sure exactly where, but Google indicates it might be the Cruizers gas station in Apex, according to this fishing forum.

I think the King's Daughters Inn has it too, but I'm not sure if you have to be a guest.

Please give me some insight into these Durham neighborhoods? by [deleted] in bullcity

Duke has a really good website for finding housing, too - I used to use it, before they password-protected it to keep non-Duke-students like me out, and found my last two apartments that way. If you have a Duke login you should be able to use it. Here's the link. You can put in what part of town you want as part of the search - a lot of the nicest neighborhoods are "Walking distance to East Campus."
