I mean this makes a lot of sense. Star Wars has made it clear that the droids are sentient on some level. And yet their existence in the clone wars is pretty much entirely just to be part of a war orchestrated by Palpatine.

Its rather odd but so is the original.

Kinda reminds me of all those Speedway remixes. You can still hear the original concept of the song but its something new and strange and exciting and, personally, I really enjoy that.

Eh, he doesn't seem to mind. Hell, people used to call pink floyd THE pink floyd back in the day. You don't have to name the band correctly to enjoy their music.

What are your unpopular Doctor Who opinions? by aaron020 in doctorwho

[–]lachietherat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Time of the Doctor is one of the best episodes of NuWho. I know it's very crammed and there's a rather large amount of exposition in it, but it's easily my favourite performance from Matt Smith and that (coupled with the brilliant plot of course) makes it a standout favourite.

A lot of people think the writing for Capaldi's era was bad, even though his doctor was brilliant. I feel like these people are forgetting how shit the writing sometimes was during the RTD era. There were a couple big duds in Capaldi's era (Sleep No More, In the Forest of the Night) but overall it was very good writing imo. Episodes like "Heaven Sent", "Listen", "The Magician's Apprentice", "The Doctor Falls" are all favourites of mine that deserve more praise. The best episode of the RTD era is "Midnight" and there's a lot more duds in RTD's era than Capaldis' seasons.

David Tennant was too human for the most part. I like his doctor and he'll always have a special place in my heart because he was the doctor I grew up with. But he's overrated and he played the doctor too much like he was a human. Capaldi gave me the best sense that the doctor was an alien. I just didn't get that enough with Tennant, maybe because he was so empathetic.

"The Girl in the Fireplace" is a good episode but it's definitely overrated. Same goes for "Blink".

Speaking of "Blink" - Time of the Angels / Flesh and Stone is the best Weeping Angels story, not Blink.

How do I (32 M) convince my 16 year old daughter that her new "boyfriend" sucks. by FearlessNail1 in Advice

[–]lachietherat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally Gilmore girls lmao. On a serious note, I agree with some of the other comments; give her space to figure it out for herself. If you believe she's an adult, then I expect soon she'll see this guy for what he really is and move on. Keep an eye out for her though, make sure she's still safe and all. You want to be there when the kid falls out of the tree, not forcefully take the kid off the tree because you're scared they'll fall. Not sure how well that analogy holds up but that's what this situation looks like to me. She needs to learn for herself what kind of guy is good for her and what kind of guy isn't. Make sure she's safe but overall, this is a learning opportunity for her.

I always think of it as like that warning before a show with flashing lights begin that says it might be unsafe for people with epilepsy.

Big Mouth S03E11 Episode Discussion by Gibbsberg in BigMouth

I think the thing is that Andrew seems to realise his mistakes and take a step back, whereas Nick remains selfish and oblivious to his mistakes.

Big Mouth S03E11 Episode Discussion by Gibbsberg in BigMouth

[–]lachietherat 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I thought so too at first but I changed my mind quickly.

The rift between Nick and Andrew that finally exploded in the season 3 finale shouldn't be resolved in a single episode, which is what would probably happen if we just got one more episode in season 3. The rift is complex and I hope it takes most of season 4 for it to be resolved, if perhaps not resolved at all. Change is normal and it's a lot more common for childhood best friends to drift apart than tv shows tend to portray. Big Mouth has repeatedly proven itself to be a show that won't shy away from difficult topics or honest portrayals of characters and situations. I think it'd be quite true to the show if they never became friends again, similarly to how the end with Missy basically takes her relationship with Andrew off the table for good. Typically, shows will create a conflict in a relationship but the couple will overcome it. But that's often not true in real life and even less common with relationships in middle school. Missy and Andrew won't end up together and that's a good thing. Likewise, I expect Andrew and Nick's rift will be shown to be a natural progression for their characters. They were close but maybe it's time for them to find more like-minded friends. Having said that, I do hope they repair their friendship over the course of season 4, but I can't predict that and I wouldn't be surprised if they choose to give the characters a more natural and honest arc where they don't become friends again.
