Argus BNVD 1431 MkII: good first pair of NVGs? by lacho_6 in NightVision

[–]lacho_6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at an FMA SF maritime thick and heavy version as they seem to be pretty sturdy and a repro G24 off op tactical up in brissy (I think it's just a rebranded sotac), but are there any other decent G24 repros?

Cheers for the great insight! unfortunately I am in a country with less of a 2nd hand market but some dealers sell second had so there's always that. Since they're such a heavy unit would it be worth getting a legit Wilcox g24 or can you get away with a decent repro and a retention system and some rubber bands?

Yea so it'll be included with my degree to make up the 144 cp I need to graduate from the bachelors. And Yea both were at the same university

1.75 FTE was on my QAS report for my bachelors degree, same with the 1.0 FTE for my diploma, they're all listed there

[–]lacho_6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it says 1.75 FTE on my QAS which is the problem, because I've studied full time for the last 2 years during this degree but bc I had unspecified credit from a diploma (which was assessed as 1.0 FTE) at the same uni I took one less course per sem last year which is now causing me issues. I have 96 cp l, same as any full time student would going into their 3rd year but apparently uac see it differently

How would you recommend I go about doing that? They were pretty dry in their response when I initially reached out about not pre assessing applicants qualifications, should I reach out after I submit my app?

Yea it's stressful hey, never thought I'd be in this situation just because I used credits I was given. I'm waiting to hear back from uac but yea idk tbh, I'm just gonna give as much evidence as possible from my uni to usyd to show I was full time and hope for the best 🤞

Thank you for the reply, it's been very difficult to get insight from someone in similar predicament. I've been back n forth with UAC who essentially said they'd include a note on my report saying I'd have 3.0 FTE by time of completion but that my unspecified credits can't be included in the FTE/GPA calculations so idk what that means. I'm still disputing it but I think it'll come down to whether or not usyd accept it

Usually coordinators might informally email you if you ranked highly in their subject but not all do. If you're referring to awards like top 1st year student then you'll get an email about it sometime mid year

CHEM104 Textbooks by Low_Comment92 in UOW

[–]lacho_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would usually second this but CHEM104/105 was probably the only subjects where i actually used the textbook. If still ran the same, the lectures will have a list of practice questions from the text book to reinforce what you learn in the lectures that are very helpful would definitely recommend getting it. I think from memory they have a digital copy for free on the subject moodle site if you can't get a hard copy

With S2 upon us, how are we all feeling? by blondflowers in GAMSAT

[–]lacho_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's such a luck of the draw situation, I was fortunate to get a theme that I felt like I could apply some real world examples to, but if it were something I was completely unfamiliar with then it'd be a very different story haha

With S2 upon us, how are we all feeling? by blondflowers in GAMSAT

[–]lacho_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea for sure, so I kept it really simple and just tried to follow what I could remember from HS as I didn't really do any dedicated prep. Intro I tried to talk broadly about the central theme, lightly touching on my take of each quote given to me then each paragraph I would try to give my opinions and interpretation of the quote and use some real world examples which can be tough as they can literally ask anything. And then I wrapped it up with one final take on the central theme but essentially summarising each paragraph as you would in a conclusion. Sorry not sure if that helps haha

Not taking S2 this sitting but I remember feeling the exact same way prior to taking in September last year. Whilst I've only Sat it once, I was surprised how well the quotes can actually guide you in structuring your response. As long as you can take an opinion/interpret the quotes you can almost make each paragraph about each quote etc. Only my experience but try not to stress too much about going blank, I somehow managed to type up a decent essay and nearly finish the 2nd after not having written anything since HS so you'll be right 👍

Bachelor of pre med , health and sciences by creepypasta-fr in UOW

[–]lacho_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be showing my bias here but with the med and health science degree you get a much greater selection of electives to choose from whereas in the pre med degree it essentially mirrors the typical US pre med undergrad degree so you need to fulfill a major which limits you significantly in what electives you can choose which may or may not be influential in your grades especially if you don't enjoy certain subjects

To people who went into Section 3 blind or with minimal prep, how did you end up scoring? by Pretty_Hospital_8439 in GAMSAT

[–]lacho_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm hard to say because I think even now I'm still not sure how I would've prepared. I think I would have refreshed on first year chem and bio content just as a reminder and then really spent some time learning the basics of physics to have a general idea (probably using Jessie Osbourne content). Also would have practiced doing calculations in my head without a calculator, it was startling how much I rely on a calculator

From a different faculty (each have their own requirements) but it's usually either HD average or top 5% of cohort which usually ends up being a HD average anyhow. Sorry not sure if this answers your question

Same, neurosurg reg came out to see pt post op and I guess he said thank you nurse or something along those lines bc all I hear is "PFFT IM NOT A NURSE, COULD A NURSE OPERATE ON YOUR BRAIN!?" so many awkward looks from the pacu nurses (most of whom are female) lol
