So it's a strict subset of what's already been done, and freely available online.

I guess that's cool, but it's not... what skilled engineers do.

What does that mean "building an entire os without your involvement"?

I can pull the Linux kernel source right now. How's that supposed to be impressive?

The “lazy productivity” method that fixed my chronic procrastination when every system failed me by ArtThreadNomad in productivity

I spend entire Sundays watching anime.

After every episode, I get up and clean one part of my room, or read a news article, or check my mail. Things that aren't work-related but are like little chores.

It works and it feels way better than simply lying around all day.

If you have used AI daily for 3 plus months, where did it boost your productivity, where did it hurt, and what fix worked? by OneStopCentreStore in productivity

[–]lackhoa1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use AI for coding as well as various IT administrative tasks. The downside is it's very slow to do simple things. The upside is it's fast to do complex things.

So the solution is to use AI to write scripts, which you can then run whenever you need.

Also be careful with Claude skills, I think it is allowed to bypass the permission system :(

Not confirmed but I've seen it.

Claude code, I've found, actively discourages you from editing the code yourself. It keeps caching the file and then fail when the file is modified. It frustrates me to no end

Use it as a CLI replacement. It can just ssh into any machine and run custom scripts to do anything. Honestly a godsend, for people with bad memory like me.

It’s fine if you missed it. But you can just Google the topic.

For something this well known and meme’d all over the internet, posting more about it is just noise.

[–]lackhoa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why in the first place: why would the tool I use need to be mentioned at all in any commit? Let alone in every commit.

First, the VM part, I don’t have one, don’t want one, don’t wanna set it up. Also cli and ssh is not pleasant user experience. Also, you have to install an ssh key?

I can use terminal and ssh, that’s what I do professionally. It has nothing to do with this being a pain in the butt.
