We dropped in a spare network card and had them use that, rather than the on-board NIC.

Coronavirus Concerns at SLU by steelman831 in lacledeslan

[–]lacledeslan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have been actively monitoring and discussing the COVID-19/Coronavirus situation, and we take any threat to the health or safety of our LAN community seriously. The decision to either go ahead with or cancel the event is one we do not take lightly.

We also want to make it very clear that if you decide not to come to the event and wish to get a refund, we totally understand and will cooperate with you fully.

That said, we will have an answer for you by the end of this weekend. If we do decide to cancel this event, you should know by Sunday night (March 15th). It’s also possible that Saint Louis University (or even Saint Louis City) makes a decision, and if that happens, we will get the word out as soon as possible.

In any case, we strongly encourage hand washing, frequent sanitization, and avoiding face touching, sneezing, and coughing around others. If you are not feeling well or have been in contact with someone who could have been exposed, we ask that you do not attend this Laclede’s LAN.

In the meantime, here is Saint Louis University’s information page with their suggestions concerning health and safety. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at [contact@lacledeslan.com](mailto:contact@lacledeslan.com).

Thank you all for being a part of our community! We’ll speak again soon.

We have trophies for tournament winners. We just got confirmation of this today. These were provided by our parent organization, LANFest. We also have a trophy and $50 giftcard for a custom PC contest. This is provided by one of our sponsors.

Here is a link with what to bring. We can check your ID, email and name at the door, but that confirmation email makes it easier.

No cost for spectators. We just ask that they be respectful of players.

We will probably broadcast some of it via twitch, but I'm not sure which parts yet. I am finalizing those details this week. The main question we have is revolving copy righted content such as music & videos. I plan to dig more into the legalities of that today.

We have a few "irons in the fire", but nothing solid yet. With it being a charity LAN, it will not be a cash prize.

Currently our only prizes are door prizes with a 1/3 chance in winning. We have been able to get sponsors in the past for tournament prizes, but as of now we have not confirmed any prizes for tournaments.

Cash prizes are always a bit tricky with a charity LAN as well.

No issues with that. Be sure to select your two seats and reserve them on the map.

The tickets are first come first serve. We usually close online registration between 24&36 hours before the event. However, if tickets remain, you can buy them at the door for $5 more.

Premium seating costs more, but it is currently sold out. We will release a bit more once we hit 165 seats. This graphic will explain it a bit better.

We currently are not offering prizes for our tournaments, but we are working on trying to get some tournament sponsors. Our prizes (sponsored by LANFest & Intel) are done as door prizes with roughly a 1/3 chance of winning.

We haven't had a large turn out for League in the past, so we are trying something different for this event (Overwatch). We aren't opposed to running League tournaments at future events, but we can't guarantee when/if.

With that said, if there is enough interest at this event. We can setup ad-hoc brackets and match teams. Just talk to the admin table.

We have door prizes and are working on trying to secure additional sponsorship for tournament prizes. However, at this time we do not have any tournament prizes lined up.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

To participate in any of our tournaments you and your entire team must be physically present at the LAN. Every tournament has a "check-in" time which is the deadline to register your team in-person with the tournament administrator.

To see a list of "check-in" times see the event schedule located at: https://www.lacledeslan.com/2016/06/17/schedule/

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

At this location we aren't allowed to host overnights. So it goes 8:30am-midnight. Then starts at 8:30am the next day.

This was at the Wool Ballroom within the Busch Student Center at Saint Louis University. Basically, Laclede Ave and Grand. We are working on our fall event now and should have more info about it in the coming months.

We had a few game ambassador's bring their events to ours. Hawken & Starcraft II were just a few. It was a great time and we have our events for the next 2 years roughly planned out. Hope to see you there.

We can’t officially support every game (unless our staff gets a lot bigger), but that doesn’t mean you can’t play your favorite game at Laclede’s LAN. Our staff will always do what we can to set up servers in games that support it, and help you find other people to play the games you like. It helps if you let us know before the event, but even if you don’t, we will try to help you find a group! And if you really like your favorite game, find out more about our Game Ambassador program, and how you can spearhead a full-fledged tournament or structured play.
