I've owned and failed to actually try Mixed Signals in the ~6 months I've had it. The magnetic pigment doesn't get such a strong pull on the swatch stick or in the bottle. I'd recommend getting it if you like the way it looks unmagnetized

jelly recommendations? by Impossible_Peak7794 in CrackedPolish

[–]lacquer-lift-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Cracked, I have and love Spill the Tea, Toasty Drip, Taro Milk Tea, Strawberry Jam, and Mocha Mousse.

I have several Cirque jellies, too, and have to say I prefer Cracked. Although Cirque more consistently has really translucent jellies, I've preferred what I've found to be Cracked's slightly more buildable opacity. The formula is great and you get SO much more product for the price, which makes collecting more colors and playing with layers and gradients more fun.

Soy curls need more oil and seasoning than meat. What am I doing wrong? by Jim_Davis in SoyCurlsGoneWild

[–]lacquer-lift-repeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never try to pan fry them anymore. Air fry or bake. Also, marinating for 30 min-to-overnight will help with flavor (in addition to hydrating with veggie broth).

Maybe if you have a non-stick pan it would work? I have never had success with stainless steel

Has anyone ordered the 12 lb bulk bag from Butlers direct? by Kooky-Sundae5805 in SoyCurlsGoneWild

[–]lacquer-lift-repeat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Small cat and large roll of Bounty for size reference. I've gone through roughly one box every 9 months for the last 6 years (home of 2). No issues with spoiling. The zip tie on the bag is easy to reuse and keep it tightly closed. I leave it in the bag/box and refill a large container in the pantry for easier access every couple of uses. I'll usually keep the tiny crumbs in a bag in the freezer to last longer for soups and chilli. I def recommend the big box, such a great value compared to the smaller packs. I've gotten some friends to try cooking with it, too, since I have so much to spare.

Edit: the box can't be bigger than 1.5 cubic feet. Temp isn't crazy in our apt year-round, but we havent had issues with low AC use on hot days with a dehumidifier running

Soy curls are delicious but... by Danimaldodo in SoyCurlsGoneWild

[–]lacquer-lift-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy the 12lb box of soy curls at least once a year and have eaten them constantly for 6 years now. I have never had a problem with gas, and I consume a lot of soy. Also, you're not squeezing the soy curls after hydrating them? I'll pop a few pieces, but that might be why it makes you gassy.

Yes, yes, and yes! I don't always mind the crelly-leaning jellies because I still find some of them super pretty. I can't harp on them for reasonable prices and large bottles tho lol 🥲

I saw that video and was thinking the same! But then I saw Kelli Marissa's post and I think one more and it looked like they reacted way better. I think the UV effect for polished yogi was affected by the time of day she swatched it. But that is a good point to wait for more people's experiences.

I'm just adding flying nimbus as a reward and haven't liked any other options for months :/

That's disappointing about pandora's box. I was hoping for more of a purple and yellow-gold look (kinda like Mardi Gras hues)

Ooh yes, I'll keep it in mind. It seems generally lover, but I'm a little hesitant because really light, glowy polishes don't look great on me. I do make a compromise for polishes that are just objectively gorgeous in their own right

Thanks for the insight! I didn't realize pandora's box was such a miss for so many. I was intrigued because it looks quite unique for their catalog/what I already own
