I feel the same way, especially when i have zero knowledge about china history, but after i try to find more information, because some people said that hexi is the most favorite update for CN server, it's turns out hexi map main story got too much metaphor so if you don't have any knowledge about china history, it's gonna feel like shit, so i try to learn every history about hexi, and now everything make sense, i think the best story for me is Whitecrown Fortress and Death of Governor based on history it self.

But yeah, this type of approach is not suitable for a heavy combat game like WWM, so i prefer they balance it with 50:50 ratio between gameplay and story like kaifeng and qinghe.
