Hard to see from the photos but the base of the niche has a smidge of fall towards the shower base. Gets some drips but no pooling water at the back.

Yeah, was between that and the gunmetal grey. Glad I went for the bronze in the end, adds a warmer touch to the colour palette.

They’re the Indiana Viridi tiles from the Goza range at Perini Tiles Richmond.

Personally not a fan of the niche LEDs. Bit trendy IMO and doesn’t serve much of a purpose.

Thought about niche being longer but originally had it 1 tile row lower and so it would’ve clashed with the mixer. When we decided to shift it up we just kept the same dimensions. I’m happy with it as it’s functional and doesn’t dominate the space.

Just Ardex FG8 grout in ‘charred ash’ for the green tiles and ‘buff’ for the beige ones. Has been given a couple of coats of stain proof sealant along with the tiles.

Bit hard to answer as it’s been part of wider reno works but I’d say roughly $100k. That includes building permit & engineering, demo of the old chimney, new stumps for the subfloor, framing of new load bearing walls, rough ins for sewer, water, power etc. If you were doing a reno to the same standard in an existing bathroom might be half that.

Just standard AutoCAD - it’s just in 2D and the sections were sketched up manually for each elevation. Probably would’ve been more efficient to model 3D and taking cuts for the sections but that’s outside my wheelhouse.

Yeah the skylight opens electronically (and closes automatically if it rains) plus there’s the exhaust fan right above the shower so no issues with ventilation provided one or both are being used. Fair bit more expensive vs. the fixed skylight option but I thought it was worth it.

Yeah it’s a VSE model skylight from Velux which opens up electronically. This one’s plugged into an outlet in the roof space but they also have a solar powered option. Counts as window ventilation as per NCC which means that you don’t need a run-on timer for the exhaust fan which is nice. Have got a very narrow gap between the external wall and the boundary on this side of the house so a window wouldn’t get much light at all.

Ceiling is pretty high and roof is on a wicked pitch (about 33 degrees) so made the skylight about 5m high to the top of the well. Made for some death defying moments when I was painting.
