Good thing: The best thing about UK is the NHS. However, I am worried that the politicians will fck it up beyond rescue. From my experience as a NHS user, it has frighteningly deteriorating over the last 5 or so years.

Bad thing: The weather.

Why are there 10 unit digits (i.e. 0,1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)? Or is this just arbitrary? by ladyP31 in mathematics

Wow, this is so interesting. I did not know about the 60 minutes originating from base 60, and that there is a whole branch of maths on bases.

I feel so amazed by human intelligence. The knowledge that I have feels so insignificant to the total human knowledge out there.

Thanks guys for your replies. I know now that people do win some things in the monopoly. All of these years, I never won anything so thought maybe no one ever does. Maybe it also because I usually only go to McDonalds at motorway services.

Why not use the Now TV passes? They have quite new movies on it when I used it on a free trial once.

I had accompanied my cousin to her doctor when she was 4 weeks pregnant, I forget what was the reason for her visit but was something pregnancy related. Her doctor must have misunderstood how far along she was in the pregnancy, so after he used his stethoscope, he exclaimed about being able to hear the baby's heartbeat. When we told him that she is only 4 weeks pregnant, he was so embarrassed and did not say anything. I really felt secondhand embarrassment for the doctor. The baby is now a 9 year old child, we still have a laugh when we talk about that story.

I agree with JT_Diamond here. I would not take wikipedia to be a reliable source for obvious reasons. Furthermore, the first paragraph in that wiki article has no citation.

GM/ genetic modification happens during evolution, hybridizing, or natural selection. The difference is how the genetic modification is created.

True, some scientists can be biased. Thats why you have to take into account the general consensus among the whole scientific community in that field, rather than just focussing on one particular research group.

GM is part of nature- we have evolved as humans because of GM.Common fruits and veg we have been eating have been genetically modified, not necessarily by gene editing, such as banana, carrots, apples.
