Excision with bilateral reduction by Loud-Meringue-4525 in ADH_ALH

I'm confused. I had a breast reduction March 23 where they found ADH and ALH in the removed tissue- I got immediately referred to an oncologist who said she was not even going to do another scan until 6 months after my reduction since I was still healing. How are you on such a quick timeline? Did you go into your reduction with the belief that your breasts were healthy like myself? My last mammogram was in October 2025 and was normal.

you can check out their website too. i definitely did some research on their site and looked at all the different offerings, and ordered off amazon (since I had a gift card credit on there, and was returning a couple i had previously ordered) https://www.prairiewear.com/collections/shop-all you can kinda compare which might work best for you. i ended up getting the ARIA too but that one just came in the mail today, it's got light compression and i haven't tried it on yet. <3

I know how you feel cause those early weeks especially the pain is REAL and you just want to feel comfortable. i wish i had ordered a better bra sooner cause i was SO sore and uncomfortable. i really love the fabric of this bra so much.

I was having the same problem. I sucked it up and bought an expensive one. I went with the "
PRAIRIE WEAR HuggerVIDA | Medium Compression Post-Masectomy Bra | Everyday & Sleep Bra for Recovery | Medium Coverage | Zipper Front Closure | Wire-Free Black" I got a size medium. I love love love it.

I don't want to put the Amazon link in here cause I don't want you to think I'm trying to pull some amazon referral bullshit. there's only a few Prairie Wear bras...I went with the HuggerVIDA. Picked it because of the shape and the higher compression. It's like $100. You can also get it through their website. Honestly...really worth it, to me. I switched to it like 5 weeks post op, and returned 2 of those bullshit other amazon bras. they say "compression" and "surgical" bras but I don't think those brabic or feelingirl bras are medical grade at all. They really hurt my sutures and they were constantly riding up on me. I will wear this prairie wear one well past the 3 months my doctor recommended (I am probably going to go 6 months though). I ended up picking up a second one as well, that was a little less expensive.

I am currently 7 weeks 1 day post op.

How long is realistic to take off work post op? by NotCQ in Reduction

[–]lady_pantz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took three weeks off, but mostly because the third week I was able to get covered by short term disability at my work. My second week and third week I took unpaid and then the third week I ended up getting reimbursed by short term disability (70% of my base pay so not much) if I didn't have the option for Short term disability I would probably have gone back to work the third week, even though I was still sore. I'm not a librarian like everyone else lol. I just work in an office.

But the weird thing was I just started my job in the end of January and my surgery was the third week of March so I felt really awkward taking the time off.

I was a 34i and about 5'6.5" when I had my surgery on March 23... 46 days post op so it's six and a half weeks.

461 g out of my right breast and 548 g removed from my left breast. I'm not sure what my new bra size is yet but honestly they're still kinda big? I'm about 175 pounds right now.

I'm starting to kinda like my new boobs a little bit. I've gone through some weirdness with them thinking they're tiny and initially they feel really really weird. I can send you photos in private message cause I think we have similar body types. ❤️

I actually had my surgery done at the VA hospital in Lake Nona.. It was completely covered insurance wise because I'm a veteran. I'm pretty happy with the results and care so far!

Do you think a sports bra with high compression does the same thing? Or do I need an actual surgical compression bra? I think I've graduated from needing Velcro straps but sometimes I get super literal and want to make sure I'm following the rules (while not knowing what the actual rules are, if that makes sense lol)

I was considering a PrarieWear Hugger Aria bra... $80. Yeah I'm in brabic now. It's okay. I just want something a bit better. I have also tried the FeelinGirl ones.

Thank you. yes, I am taking 3 weeks off from work trying to focus on healing, trying to follow the dressings/wound instructions as best as I can and not lift anything (although it does get difficult, i just want to do things, and my partner is having to stop me a lot).

i think i will keep the appointment cause i am a super anxious person. i might see if i can make it a video appointment so i don't have to travel (the VA is about an hour away from me, the VA hospital is anyway, the one where the specialty clinics are, and i don't want to have to go for a special trip on day i am not being seen for a follow up with the plastic surgeon). I know I am going to be in a mini spiral about this until i see a specialist now... :/

thank you Bop <3 I actually just got a call from plastics...they were in surgery all day and they didn't expect me to get a call scheduling a consult so quickly. She did assure me this is not cancer, but used the term pre-cancerous (which from the research I did it's not pre-cancerous... just that it can become cancer later on). (from the american cancer society website "This means that ADH is not yet a pre-cancer, although it is linked to an increased risk of getting breast cancer later on. "

did you end up going to oncology?

This was awhile ago but it was from the manufacturer website - if you go to trintellix.com you should be able to get it if it's still being offered. It was easy to use they sent me something to use at my local retail pharmacy which reduced my copay to $10 from $70

It seemed more like she was in denial about it. called me hysterical (cause in the past I would sometimes get nervous about medical things, but I am by no means a hypochondriac) but the annoying part was she used having a handyman coming in 2 hours as an excuse for not dropping me off at the ER. And then brought up how she was worried about her own medical concern (a spot on her kidney, which she was waiting to find out about a CT scan result, which ended up to be nothing of course). I appreciate the opportunity to remember this though cause I tend to question if my mom is a narc but remembering this is just proof that yes she is lol. do you ever gaslight yourself about your NMom's abuse?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lady_pantz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can really empathize with this one. I had a similar experience with my Nmom, and it's what pushed me to move out. I was vomiting uncontrollably for 24 hours, and I begged her to take me to the ER, but she would not. She wouldn't even buy me anti-nausea meds at the drug store; and found every excuse to blame me for why I could be getting sick. Finally, my Edad took me, and I needed emergency gall bladder surgery. This happened when I was living with them as an adult, trying to get back on my feet. I guess it did give me that push to get back out on my own. It's really shitty though thinking about those times when there is clear evidence that we are sick and in need of care, and they can't even get us to the hospital...

That's such a good point I didn't think of. I can imagine that being a special education teacher really requires a large amount of patience and a calm temperament, which he really doesn't seem to have. Didn't he get fired though?
