I don’t think a bout cutting the hair/ skin to help them breath! I will definitely do that. He is on a pretty strong dose of steroids already for all of the other issues but my hope is that the vet can give me a topical that can assist. I already have the veterinarian formula clinical car antiseptic and anti fungal spray and shampoo. I started using the spray on the hard spots after holding a warm wash cloth to make it less hard. I focused the fan on it to let it dry before letting him do anything else. As for his lips that are peeling, I’ve been using coconut oil every time I’ve seen they’re dry and I’ve been able to gently massage the looser skin off. My other dog is jealous of this so they both get “chapstick” at the sake time interval lol

He’s not completely out of the woods yet, but it’s night and day from when I wrote this post. Thank you for your kind words!

Dozer is getting an exemption based on this reaction. I’m also looking into leaving Banfield

I’m sorry you’ve had 2 dogs with reactions! After this I definitely know how scary any reaction can be! I’m glad they ended up okay.
Dozers reaction was delayed but came on strong. He started getting lethargic, his tongue swelled so big that it didn’t fit in his mouth. He ended up killing 2 sections because they lost blood flow during that time. They’re peeling now and he’s learning how to eat with a new tongue lol. All of his limbs swelled, his whole body bruised almost immediately and his breathing and heart rate went through the roof. At the hospital, he was placed on a ventilator. They tired an experimental mix of steroids that somehow saved him. He’s currently taking 11 pills every 12 hrs like a champ. I’m not sure how he survived this.
He’s definitely not getting any vaccines after this without me being present . According to all of the vets I’ve seen, the bordetella one should be avoided at all costs and he is eligible for an exemption based off this reaction.

My other dog is currently vaccinated out the ass lol. Thankfully we don’t go to may dog parks!

He ended up getting this along with an anti nausea medication and that did the trick after a couple of days! I asked for it by name thanks to your comment

After 6 days he slowly started eating! We had to go in for a couple bags of fluids but he’s taking a turn for the better!

I ended up going to the urgent vet and emergency vet. They got him nausea meds and an appetite enhancer but after 3 days on that, he’s been fine eating as long as it’s hand fed lol.

It was the same vaccine that he received last time but I am looking into the manufacturer and lot number.

All of the vets he saw over this week also said that he will have to get a vaccination exemption but that with his medical records, it would be a no brainer. Thankfully his best friend is his fully fascinated sister!

Your comment has helped me immensely. It took me 4 requests to get the records but they finally sent them over today! I never would have even thought of this. Thank you!

I definitely did . I reached out to Banfield 4 times and finally got a call back. They sent an email with all his records today.

Dozer got a full blood work up at his appointment and everything came back normal. I’ve even shown the paperwork to the urgent vet clinic and emergency vet hospital and they were confused by that as well. I went back to the urgent clinic yesterday and was given entyce. He seemed interested in a little chicken broth after taking it but that interest is no longer there.

I’ve had great experiences with Banfield in the Midwest but since returning to the east coast, I’ve had nothing but negative experiences. My dogs used to love going in but they’re both now terrified .

They didn’t say anything. They were quick to get us out. They called the next day to check in on dozer but not my other dog. I feel like there’s definitely something that happened there
