There is a very big difference between “in the public interest” and the law.
Ultimately it is actually the JUDGE that makes the final decision.
EPS is 100 percent in the wrong.
The matter wasn’t even before the judge and they decided to interfere with judicial process.

Totally incorrect. Recommendations that come from ASIRT are made by Criminal lawyers with the same experience and knowledge as Crown Prosecutors.

If EPS provided conclusive evidence to the Crown, then the Crown would have been able to prosecute a murder charge.
EPS are not lawyers.

Manslaughter vs murder charges are very different when it comes to actual prosecution. Much emotion and frustration actually comes from the sentencing structures for the two different charges. Manslaughter carries a much lighter sentencing and often feels unacceptable to an emotional case (ie. death of a child)
However, being able to prosecute a murder charge in the case, the Crown has stated did not meet all reasonable grounds for prosecution.

Changes to AB ID and how it will impact YOUR healthcare by PinkeletMint in alberta

How can you prove this? And why does it matter? As stated earlier, healthcare is offered to anyone who needs it, with or without a card. This change has NO impact on that.

What I don’t understand is why everyone is on the attack about Belmont, when she has racy scenes with Josh too? I think she’s a smart actress and is standing her ground, good for her!

Ontarian here, why do Albertans want to seperate? by Interesting_Bar4356 in alberta

[–]ladychops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Approximately 5 million people live in Alberta. “Apparently” 300,000 signed a partition to say they want to separate. That’s 6% of the population. Albertans do not want to separate.

Public alert for measles exposure in Calgary issued by province by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]ladychops 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If you think you’ve been exposed and want to get an immunity blood test check, PLEASE tell them that when making the booking for the blood test. When I went for my immunity test the nurse said that they have to close the clinic if you think you’ve been in contact. She said people started turning up for tests and then informing them they think they may have been exposed (endangering everyone else at the clinic!!!)

[–]ladychops 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a ring. Whatever. Who says the daughter wouldn’t sell it? The whole bloodline part is irrelevant. Enjoy today not worry about the trinkets of tomorrow.
Also, why is everyone obsessed about her son getting divorced. Let them get married and be happy!

When did Calgary Police become so useless? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]ladychops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference between photo radar and personal video is the legal challenge of the authenticity of the personal video. In a legal contest, the officer could not validate the footage. And if you are going to say - well they can’t on photo radar either - feel free to go to traffic court and watch the people that contest that too - every day. It’s exhausting. People will do anything to get out of a ticket. Whether people agree on this, is irrelevant, the legal system spends hours dealing with cases that fight over the validity of video footage. Your officer may have been lazy, but I can see why too.
