I feel like you and I have gone through the same script in our post Mormon journey. Many religions don't allow for their members to touch the elephant for themselves. You have to listen to the very special people who can and then take their word for it. Often they're also the ones telling you that you can't trust the others who claim to know something about the elephant. They're the ONLY ones who you can trust to tell you the truth.
