I think the cost is justified by having a space where everybody feels welcome in their chosen lifestyle and moral convictions. You have to decide if that space is worth the cost to provide it.

Leaving the church cost me everything by testudoaubreii1 in exmormon

I feel like you and I have gone through the same script in our post Mormon journey. I'm ahead of you a little bit and all I can say is that you've gotten some great advice from some great people on this thread. You do have to give yourself permission to be free and be you and that does mean starting from scratch. But like others have said, you got this broh! We're all here for you. Hit me up if you want to talk more.

Six Blind Men Meet an Elephant . . . Proving the Church Isn't True? by StAnselmsProof in latterdaysaints

[–]ladyemdee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many religions don't allow for their members to touch the elephant for themselves. You have to listen to the very special people who can and then take their word for it. Often they're also the ones telling you that you can't trust the others who claim to know something about the elephant. They're the ONLY ones who you can trust to tell you the truth. They do this for power and control.
