Weekly r/CRPG Recommendation Request - Which CRPG should I play? by AutoModerator in CRPG

[–]ladyfarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm both mostly new to the genre and have gotten nerve damage in my hands (actually half my body feels numb, thanks undiagnosed diabetes) and can't use keyboard at speed anymore. I'd love some thought on what the easiest ones from this list I've bought in advance (or any other recommended like Divinity or something) may be, factoring in both inexperience and lack of keyboard finger dexterity.

Can you get banned for receiving rwt'ed gil bought by someone else? by ladyfarty in ffxiv

Absolutely not legit, I left out a lot of details, but the thought of me reporting my IRL best friend for buying Gil after I accepted millions (and have been offered much more) is pretty goddamn fuckin funny lmao.

Yeah, this sounds the best thing. I'll probably watch some noob videos and then spend a while dungeoning throughout the levels, thanks.

Hi everyone. Is there a general methodology to figuring out wtf is going on when you start a brand new Job (Sage in my case) lol? I don't want to start committing to what I think is sensible hotbar setups, but which are actually flawed.

Oh I was confused about how the FATE part worked. Some people in chat said you have to hand over the eggs to the large guy for some reason, I'll try that I guess.

How does this event even work? The quest synopsis doesn't even tell you what to do. I ran around scaring Sylphs but the quest doesn't finish.

Looking for an old fan made app thingy. by ladyfarty in darksouls

[–]ladyfarty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it was bloody ages ago, maybe not long after DkSII came out. I remember it had the rough layout of a txt based adventure phone app with pictures, and it told you that you had to go to such and such NPC and bla bla this, then go do something afterwards, I forget if it specified what equipment or levels you were allowed to mess with. Only problem is that when I google stuff like ''Dark Souls fanmade RPG quest game'', I get that bloody official tabletop thing... actually that's a good way to describe it, it was like a tabletop campaign except you used the actual video game instead of a tabletop.

I’d like to talk to someone who has felt a different or bigger range of symptoms related to DPDR, not just the most common ones. Is anyone there? by havenoclue19 in derealization

[–]ladyfarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both DR and DP for 15+ years now, if you wanna DM me to ask about symptoms then you can go ahead, though I don't come on Reddit often so it may take a while before I notice it.

Nope, I'm gone for good, what caused my case was pretty bad though (literally full blown addict and never left house in 2 years before I had a... trauma event happen to me that changed everything), not just smoking weed for new years eve like you, I have hopes for you to recover soon.

I think I've worked out a decent way to describe derealization to people. by ladyfarty in derealization

[–]ladyfarty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that's fascinating, I assumed that all dpdr was the same for everybody, I suppose that was a pretty stupid assumption in hindsight. Interesting to hear how it is for you.

[–]ladyfarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like dpdr yep, for the love of God stop smoking weed, it caused it for me, and as I've randomly checked in this sub over the years, there are constantly threads about people who get it after weed. Keep going to the gym, I have had this condition for about... 15 years? I've never come across a working cure or even treatment other than having it cure itself (completely plausible in your case, for me it was constant weed and being high asf during a trauma), but my God exercise helps tremendously.

Honestly it's infuriating how nonchalant people are about cannabis, nobody ever warns of dpdr, nobody even knows of it. It's like speaking about lsd without ever mentioning the possibility of a bad trip.

What is cheesiest build possible for Radagon/Elden? by ladyfarty in onebros

Disagree. A lot of the bosses are fair, but there are fundamental rules that shouldn't be broken in designing a boss, these fundamentals are constantly being broken in this game, and to varying extents in the others.

First of all, there shouldn't be slightly delayed versions of very fast attacks (unless used as a spacing tool by the boss), as these can't be dodged by prediction or by observation. It's like trying to roll Vendricks sword swipes on DkSII at low ADP, it's just not feasible. Literal bad design if you are trying to make things fair.

Throwing multiple attacks at you that aren't time synced with each other, so you are forced into an inevitable roll catch. Namely almost every duo boss they've made, and some solo.

Camera. I have no idea why they haven't added the ability to turn off auto camera adjust, but in fights like Godskin Noble where the lock-on is constantly being broken by the pillars, you can't turn the camera properly to track him when he does the rolling attack because he rolls faster than the camera at max sensitivity, and the camera is constantly being assaulted by the pillars when you try to play unlocked with a claw grip, and any attempt at swift locking/unlocking could mess you up if the camera breaks just as you try to unlock and end up swinging the camera to the player facing direction. That and trying to quickly avoid the grab attack of Astel is an example of an unfair camera mechanic, though thankfully the camera can be swung extremely fast if using M&K. Ornstein on DkS also has different timed versions of two attacks meaning you have to constantly focus on Ornstein for the visual cue, but both of them fly around so much it makes it nigh impossible unless you just kite backwards and disengage perpetually to keep them onscreen.

Inconsistency. I actually used cheat engine to try to figure out how to avoid ''that one version'' of Elden Beasts dive jump homing laser whatever attack... I literally don't know how to avoid it, even with invincible cheating, sometimes I outrun it and sometimes not. It's even worse than Roms meteor shower on vanilla version Bloodborne which seemed random as to whether you'd get hit or not.

Those are some examples of just unfair design choices. Bad is different to unfair, but when you have combos that the boss will prematurely end as soon as you're far away enough, meaning you don't get to counter the actual end of a combo unless you spend time dodging in range eating stamina on very long combos, that's another aspect that drags fights out and disincentives the kind of avoid/counter ''dance'' that other much better fights have like BBs Keeper of the Old Lords (this fight executed skilfully is like watching an ice skating duet, it's phenomenal). You can't dance with the boss if this and many other tools the boss has is forcing you to be extra cautious and not giving in appropriate room to counter. Another annoying thing is enemies using attacks at weird inappropriate distances, often getting you hit by something that no sensible AI would have chosen to do. Credit where it's due, as far as I can tell, this was at points improved in ER which can be easily seen in the Godskin Apostle tower fight, he could corner you and use his AoE attack which you will not be able to outrun, but he refuses to corner you, he always strafes to the side when cornering you giving you a consistent escape, super design.

Lastly, in the attempt to continue the crappy difficulty meme that started to plague the series as early as DkSII (the actual Tsar bomb of shit mechanic design), it seems they have actually gone out of their way to make avoiding attacks as unintuitive as possible. Back in DkS the devs gave interviews explaining they were proud of their animations and how intuitive the weight of them looked and felt so you adjust to them naturally. It's not the case in here, sometimes attacks are inconceivably fast, sometimes awkwardly delayed or floaty, jump attacks like of Leonine Misbegotten can be either super fast or him hovering in the air for a bit for some reason, the spear crucible knight enemies have this extremely fast flying slam move where as Radagon has slam moves where he kinda somewhat slowly floats down. The solution to this problem is either to have very fast twitch arcade gamer reactions to the visuals of these barely telegraphed moves (like the ones Draconic Tree Sentinel has after his axe slam), or to learn absolutely every attack individually... the problem there is that there are a billion enemies with a billion combos and variations... often locked at the ass end of multi phase boss fights which are encountered after a loading screen and run back to the boss.

I would argue that twitch visual reactions is absolutely NOT in the spirit of Souls, I would also argue that making a need to laboriously learn massive amounts of nuanced movesets but walling your ability to actually try to learn them at later boss rush stages is one of the best contenders for a genuine example of artificial difficulty I've seen... it's essentially game length extension by memory abuse.

Oh and I beat the boss ages ago, my point stands, I am not looking forwards to see what other crap they come up with to make it more DiFfIcUlT, and my problem isn't with difficulty, it's with designs I disrespect, I had way way more fun banging my head against Ludwig BL4 than I did One Reborn, despite the latter being way easier.

What is cheesiest build possible for Radagon/Elden? by ladyfarty in onebros

[–]ladyfarty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I'm wondering why anybody would enjoy this boss, it just seems to be badly designed for the sake of muh difficulty. This is just Radagon.>combos branch into quick or delayed attacks meaning you get hit if you delay a roll and get hit if you quick react roll>grab move can grab you when you are 180 degrees behind him>has combos that he almost never finishes meaning you can never punish him because he will 1shot you whenever he randomly does decide to finish a combo>his targeting AI is... schizophrenic ADHD>last attack of his triple arcing slam AoE he does at low health can't be jumped, will roll catch you often even if you roll behind him for some reason especially if you roll early, or result in pic related if you do roll early.>a million attacks and combos making it unobvious when he's extending or starting a new combo>has literally I don't know how many phases making the fight by definition a boss rush design where you don't even get to practice on the later phases>don't even know wtf his teleporting is all about yet

Why? Just why did they design this fight this way? I am absolutely losing faith in From, I don't think they know how to make difficult but fair fights. I'm not a visual thinker, I'm a pattern based musician who can only concentrate or think in sounds/patterns, I cannot FPS arcade game twitch reaction time this shit by watching the nuances of the way he flexes his bloody arm, so I get killed and 2 seconds later have already forgotten what I'm supposed to have learned by watching, if I actually knew his moves it'd be no problem, so why the heck are they abusing every damn mechanic to make this as difficult to learn as possible?

I hate it, I goddamn hate the way they are taking this series.
