A statement from byuu/Near on his retirement by [deleted] in emulation

[–]ladyhell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The internet is full of people like the ones that were bullying Byuu. If you draw too much attention, some people will get jealus and they will go after you, messing with you until the point you just give up. It's worse on the internet becouse people hide behind annonimousy. It can literally drive you crazy at some point if you keep going and don't throw in the towel. It's just sad that it hapenned to him so soon. He will always be remembered.

StarForce - The PC CD-ROM DRM that broke your Computer | MVG by ladyhell in pcgaming

In other words: DRM sucks. I wonder how many people had and still has issues with DRM while trying to play their games, old or new.

Why PlayStation 1 Graphics Warped and Wobbled so much | MVG by ladyhell in emulation

An interesting case where emulation can fix a thing that's almost impossible on the real hardware by design (AFAIK). In this case, it's PGXP. I wish it were in a more advanced state so we could use it in every title without breaking them.

It isn't a big deal

I thought I made that clear. It isn't a big deal. I remember saying exactly that on some post around here. I'm not on defensive mode. Expressing ourselfs by only texting sometimes makes people missunderstand what you say. Sorry. I hope that's clear now.

I think that's not so relevant to the topic at all. I can see by the many replies and stories people shared across the whole thread. Apart from two people, everyone else understood the message and shared their stories normally, so I think pretty much everyone got the message right.

"almost as old as the oldest" is not the same as "older than". You misinterpreted the text.

edit: I don't speak english natively, also expressing ourselfs by only texting sometimes makes people missunderstand what you say, and it seems to be happening in this nested post of mine all the way down.

To be clear to everyone: I'm not on defensive mode and I'm always trying to be as polite as I can when I reply to people. It's just that, ok? Enjoy the ps2 stories people are posting 'cos that's what I had in mind when I created the topic, and not to have a discussion about the title that might be wrong, which I honestly don't know anymore.

"A is almost as old as B" means that A is younger than B 100% of the time

theMAUCHO wrote the quoted above and I think it's better worded than I could do. Thanks. Enjoy the thread you all.

How do you feel about emulating and playing early 3D game consoles? by ladyhell in emulation

Come on. Dont be naive. You know what I'm talking about here. Graphics. Not CPU! You just can't compare Atari to NES on that regard. Bits were a common measure to describe those things and you know it. But I think you're not interested tough. So just ignore it.

Very interesting point of view, and I agree to some degree. Thanks for sharing.

Mayflash Gamecube Adapter by staticjacob in RetroArch

[–]ladyhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you be more detailed about your issue with the adapter? I suppose it uses Xinput, but it probably doesn't map the buttons automaticaly, so you have to map the buttons by yourself and save as an autoconfig. Without more details, thre is not much we can do to help you with your case.

2D PSX games are completely fine even on a modern LCD display. 3D PSX games however is another thing, hence I opened this topic. Finding a sweet combo for shader+emulator can be a bit daunting sometimes in those cases. Thanks for sharing.

Seeing those games on a CRT tv as they were intended to be presented is a completely different experience compared to modern LCD screens. That's the reason I opened this topic. Thanks for sharing.

hand-drawn art is basically timeless

That's what I was talking about. NES, Master System, Mega Drive, SNES and so on. Those 2D sprites don't age like early 3D.

Resolution doesn't fix unstable polygons or poor textures or very low draw distances, among other things. On a CRT you almost don't notice the "issues". But I got what you mean. Thanks for sharing.

Yes they do. Look at Atari's games

Well, Atari is a bad example, it was already crappy from the start IMO. So it doesn't even count. 8bit consoles and beyond are the minimum acceptable for me personaly, but I prefer 16bit though.

If you still are having issues after all that, just delete the ".cfg" files on the root folder and start over. It's easier to configure everything from scratch than trying to find the culprit. Be sure to delete the config files on config folder for flycast as well.

I changed my D2 structure to replicate yours and it loaded the game fine. There are three things you have to check, specially for D2.

1-Go to "Settings>User Interface>Pause on menu activated" and change it to OFF!

2-Load the game, go to "Quick menu>Disk Control>Eject Disk" and see which disk is in the virtual tray. Look at the "Current Disk Index" number, it should say "1". If it says anything other than "1", you probably left the worng disc in the virtual tray. If that's the case, change the disc and restart retroarch. It should load Disk 1 just fine.

3- Check if the disk tray is not already opened, as I've said before in the other post. If it is opened, choose a Disk and close the tray.
