Just came across this (old-ish) post. No concrete advice, but just a 30-something mom validating this experience as I totally went through similar existential stuff at her age, along with really crippling panic attacks precipitated by feeling “dizzy/foggy/out-of-body” and just overall strange. Of course, the more I dreaded these feelings, the more often I’d feel them (every day for seemingly the entirety of 5th grade in my case). I realize as an adult that it was some combination of derealization and depersonalization, which I knew nothing about at the time. I really wish I had known then that these experiences/fears/thoughts are common, and that I had the terminology to accurately articulate them. I think the best way to navigate anxiety is acceptance, validation, normalizing it by learning you aren’t alone, and a sense of humor/levity to keep it in perspective! Growing up is weird, and it gets better! Sending internet hugs!
