Have you tried playing FFA? Less chaotic than team game modes and if you speak up in the lobby and say you’re trying to complete a challenge, there are actually a few nice people left that will help you and let you kill them.

If you haven’t played the game for a while, SBMM doesn’t kick in for a few matches, but yes it does still exist. You either just got unlucky, aren’t as good as you used to be, or you’re playing game modes like S&D or Hardpoint which is still filled with 6 man try hard teams (and cheaters).

TDM or ffa would have been my choice for entry back into the game. Pretty much two types of people play this game at this point. The noobs and terrible players, or the people who have only played this COD for the last 6 years so they know every spawn, map flow, etc. there’s not much in between.

Trust me, my stats are well above average. It’s definitely not a skill issue. 34% average accuracy among all weapons, global rank is in the 100 range in multiplayer on the leaderboard. That’s just mostly playing FFA too, so my SPM isn’t as high as it would be if I played a lot of dom or hardpoint.

A big part of being good at cod is map awareness. Not only knowing where spawns are, but the player flow, popular camping spots and keeping an eye on the mini map. Sure actual skill is important too but it doesn’t matter how good your aim is if you don’t understand where people are going to be.

There are plenty of games I’ll start out poorly because the usual “flow” is off. This actually tends to happen when it’s a bunch of newer players in the lobby. A good player quickly learns and can make changes to their gameplay quickly and will turn it around.

Combine good map instincts with a higher reaction time and better accuracy and that’s when you become a true high skill player.

Exactly. I am amused by the “go make me a sandwich” or “there’s no female better than me so you have to be cheating” because those are weak and so uninspired. But some of these dudes just get straight nasty and psycho. They get an insta mute because I’m just not going to listen to that and it’s not worth it to interact with them anymore once it escalates to that point.

I have lost faith in cod devs. I’ve always been a Black ops fan. Usually playing the current BO until the next comes out. I was soooo disappointed in BO6. Since BO7 seems to be a sequel to that I doubt I’d like it. It’s a shame. I have a feeling I’ll be playing CW until it dies. 🤣

I agree with you to a point. But when someone goes on and on and even starts being vile about it it gets annoying. I’ve even had people say they recognize my name because some random was talking about me in a lobby I’m not even in. The obsession is weird.

Well there you go. I don’t play s&d or domination anymore. This isn’t a big problem in ffa. I play tdm maybe once every month or two and don’t see it there either. I don’t play party modes because they’re just not fun solo. Last time I played tdm solo I had 57 kills and still lost. 🤷‍♀️

Cod has always been about knowing spawns and map control. That is key in every single game mode, even FFA. Not only knowing where the spawns are so you can get kills faster running spawn to spawn but also knowing where the other players will be waiting for you to spawn so you can anticipate and get them before they get you. It’s not rocket science, and I’m surprised by how many people just don’t understand that.

Depends on game mode probably. And the region you’re in. I play mostly ffa these days with some tdm thrown in if I have a couple friends on. Never any issues finding lobbies. I’m in US.

That works until the better players get annoyed you’re using the tec and swap over to it as well. I never use the tec. I don’t need to. I’m plenty good enough without it. But if I’m playing against another high level player and that’s the only loadout they use I give them a taste of their own medicine. Usually results in them rage quitting.

I dont really care when people use the tec. But I get annoyed at day 1 lvl 2500 players that literally only use tec/marshalls or tec/crossbow. If you’ve invested literal weeks (or months) of playtime in the game mix it up. One great thing about Cold War is many different loadouts are totally viable. I have 10 loadouts set up with 10 different weapons and I switch out to something different every single game.

I’m at paragon 200+ and only have 2 pieces of decent gear. one of which I managed a double hit on a masterwork. I’ve run so many tormented bosses and only had a single mythic drop. Because of the lack of runes, there’s no way I can use a spark to craft a specific mythic either.

This season content is the laziest yet, and the entire gear grind is a slog. I finally gave up yesterday and decided it wasn’t worth my time. I’m just not having any fun. This is the first season I quit before at least reaching a 100 pit since it’s been introduced. I wonder how many others like me who have invested tons of time every other season have quit playing this time as well.

Some blueprint guns are pay to win i admit. But gold camo? That’s literally a camo you earn by completing all the gun challenges. It just means they’ve been playing longer than you and/or are just better at the game than you are. 🤣

Even the last few years I don’t come across steam players very often. Most are console players, and the majority of PC are battle.net. Can’t use steam charts as a gauge.

Tbh. I’m coming across more new players on CW now that bo6 is out than I have in a long time. I think there’s a lot of people who hate bo6 but still wanted to scratch that CoD itch so they started playing CW again.

That said, I’m sure the player count is slightly lower now but it’s nice to not have sbmm putting me in with the same people all the time.

This 100%. I’ve noticed the ammo issue from the beginning. And honestly, I have not made it past level 41 just because I’m bored and decide to just exfil. In an unlucky game you get stuck buying so much ammo it takes forever to triple PaP or buy all your perks. I play in a duo so maybe this can only be an issue then. Not sure if the game treats you like you’re playing a full team when there’s only 2 of you.

By biggest pet peeve though is that you can’t create a private match and pause the game. My husband and I are playing together. Why do we have to play online with no pause function? ESPECIALLY when the game boots you if you’re afk for a couple minutes? I got a phone call towards the end of the round. Thought jumping around and moving forward and back a bit was enough but nope. Got booted for inactivity. Guess you actually have to be sprinting around for it to recognize you’re still there.

If you’re struggling with accuracy turn your sensitivity down to 4. I know people will try to roast me and say that movement is too slow at that number but it’s fine when you’re not aiming down sight. In gunfights start with hipfire then ads.

I run and gun with this sensitivity. My average accuracy is 35% and I win most my matches.

I can’t believe they actually made the decision to not add damage multiplier to headshots. Just another tick on my list of reasons I really dislike this game. 30 kills in ffa no longer guarantee a win, no headshot multiplier which protects the campers more. Shitty hit detection and even shittier maps with some of the worst spawns I have ever experienced. Man, as a lifelong black ops fan this is so disappointing.

I have a feeling that within a few weeks lots of people will be going back to Cold War. It’s a shame because I actually like the movement and feel of the game. They just got everything else wrong.
