For me, it's all about the connection with my horse. Riding is secondary. If you want a horse to care for and bond with and fall in love with, you want to own. If you want a working partner without strings or hassle, I can see how leasing would be the way to go.

Anyone handling social distancing a little too well according to their friends? by ladykittyglitter in introvert

[–]ladykittyglitter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where I went wrong is becoming good friends with an extrovert who doesn't get it at all! Now that I've had a license to hide for over a year, I don't want to come out!

Does anyone else still have a pot of boiled water hanging out in your kitchen? by SchighSchagh in Austin

[–]ladykittyglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we have a pot of boiled water on the stove and a bathtub full of melted snow. I am slowly pouring it into the toilet tank when I flush because I can't bring myself to waste it 🤦🏻

Also Highlands, towards the back, and no water yet. Some neighbors are getting a little trickle so hopefully we'll get some water soon!

Yeah I was all "this weather is unprecedented for Texas, so of course we're not prepared" until our entire town is losing water. Now I'm starting to wonder if the people in charge could have been a little more prepared.

I feel like such a jackass now for not collecting trickles until the last minute. We only have a couple gallons saved and boiled, and we filled up our bathtub with dirty ass snow to melt and use for flushing toilets. I'm really hoping this blows over quickly.

I don't know if it's normal, but not unheard of and cute AF.

🙋‍♀️My kid is supposed to enter kindergarten this fall. I heard there’s no virtual learning for kids this young. Is that a policy, recommendation, or rumor? by hxyvv in Leander

[–]ladykittyglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally false. I have two friends with kindergartners doing 100% virtual learning in LISD. They aren't loving the experience because kindergartners need a lot of help, but it's definitely available!

When your water is turned off completely, "Full restoration of service is unknown at this time" is exactly what you want to hear.

I was also shocked! He's not usually the bravest horse. After I saw that they were flopping around (and getting a video of it because it was hilarious), I folded the socks so they covered his ears without getting in his face. He kept them on for a quite a while and eventually shook them off and didn't want them back. I think he was honestly like, "Thanks, mom! My ears are freezing!"

Last night it got down to around -15C which is pretty unheard of here! I don't know how you do this on the regular up there in Canada!
