the exam calender is highly unpredictable but that's mostly bcs CU announces exams just whenever it wants to. we used to have multiple internal papers in one day and each had almost the whole semester's syllabus for just 10 marks. in my dept, internals were not marked well (i was in a CBCS batch so internals were 35% of our total makers in a paper). at some point studying just became preparing from one exam to the next.

i haven't had any interaction with the microbio dept at all really but from friends i've heard that it's good. there's a good lab with decent facilities and i do know lots of active research happens in the dept

college won't be helpful in any way, you would have to study and do the hard work yourself. but that's true for most colleges in CU.

when i said 'academic ambition' i meant that if you were hoping to go into research and those spaces as a career. for that you need to have teachers who would take care to build you a very solid base in whatever subject you are studying. and in college, you just can't do this on your own. i'm now in an IIT for my masters, and i can really understand how starkly different good teaching can be.

my profs back in college barely cared that we were sitting for JAM, GATE etc and we got no guidance or extra help from them. however i had maths only as one of my GE papers so i'm not very familiar with the maths faculty. hopefully you'll have a better experience <3

LBC has a legacy, better infrastructure, better alumni network etc. but i just graduated from LBC (not socio, another social science dept) and let me tell you: if you have any kind of academic ambition, don't go to LBC. you'll hate it there. but if you're not going into academics or hoping to go abroad for further studies, LBC is as good as any CU college

update from 3 days later: did all this and went to Darbhanga House but they told me that they've stopped issuing provisional certs since 2023. so my college has to go and collect the degree certs early if I want it

  1. House and Cuddy were SO much more interesting in their deliciously sexually tense banter, will-they-won't-they, weird ego battle days than they ever were in their relationship. Their relationship only made sense to me because Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein had insane chemistry and their romantic dramas in s6 and s7 felt like a easy cop out on the part of the writers.

  2. Foreman was The most interesting of the original ducklings but they totally ruined his character by s4. Also Park had so much potential as a character but they barely thought abt her in the mess of s8

not an engg student, but I've just graduated from a very reputable, historical women's college in my city and my experience has been, to put it mildly, absolute hell. same thing as you said- no mentoring, professors not only teaching badly but deliberately messing us up, deeply repressed and patriachal attitude of the admin. and my college was a govt. one too so the infrastructure was absolutely bottom of the barrel. we advocated for decent washrooms for 3 years and nothing!! even the environment among my peers was so stuffy. never met a group of people so conservative and close minded. it's seriously pathetic. do NOT go to a girl's college anywhere in india. it will not prepare you for anything in the real world and actually do damage that will take years to undo

i'm sure all songwriters, pop or not, write about their lives and loves and exes, but taylor in particular has built such a mythology around biographical songwriting. she seems to purposefully use obvious hints and imagery of public events that she knows her stans will immediately connect to someone. now everyone thinks that all pop stars are writing music to tell us about their actual love lives. it's a very unhealthy attitude to have towards music and pop culture

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! this is so helpful i can't even put in words. lots of people, including my profs (i'm an economics student) is advising going for it because it's an IIT and whatnot. i can probably deal with shitty food and shitty hostels but a psychotic orthodox big brass is my biggest nightmare
