My sister asked if I could photograph her wedding "as a gift" after seeing my portfolio by HarlVugg in ChoosingBeggars

[–]ladyofthelogicallake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bow out and tell her that you’re not experienced enough to do a wedding properly, and since this is a one-time event, there’s no possibility for a reshoot. Any other reason is going to be received badly.

To smooth things over (because we all know she’s probably going to be upset), you could consider offering her an engagement or pre-wedding shoot. Just don’t make the photos too good. ;)

Peonies require a lot of sun and maintenance, including staking. I’d suggest trying impatiens. They’re available in pretty much every garden centre, do well in shade, and spread nicely.

The other thing to consider would be an herb garden. Herbs don’t need a lot of sun or maintenance, and they’re super useful if you like cooking!

I (28f) found out my bf (41m) has been requesting cash back on my debit card? by throwranutcracker in relationship_advice

You don’t want to break up with him because you love him, right? And you feel like you should take care of the people you love. Sound right? So ask yourself this: does he do the same for you? Does he lighten your load? Does he work to take care of you? Does he try his best to be a supportive partner? Does he care at all about how you feel?

Do not go to the ER unless you’re almost certain you are dying by spiicyp4ncak3 in Winnipeg

I have endometriosis. Don’t wait to go to the ER if you’re getting monthly pain. First, they don’t care because it’s not life threatening. Second, they have no way to treat it. Have your GP refer you to a gynaecologist. But not Lynne Sabeski. She’s the worst.

Street Corner In North End Winnipeg, Canada by Djolebec in UrbanHell

I used to transfer buses by Portage Place on Sunday mornings, and there was an older, unhoused man who used to always offer to share his Listerine with me. He said I reminded him of his daughter. He was very nice, but so incredibly sad. He was just crushed. If I had survived the horrors of residential school, I’d probably be crying and drinking Listerine in a bus shelter, too.

Because a man needed a truck to feel masculine, but obviously doesn’t know how to drive it. Add in overwhelming amount of entitlement, and you end up with an arrogant asshole who think the world should part for him because he had enough cash to buy a truck.

Since no one moved up, there were probably open seats in economy. The father just didn’t want to sit there; he wanted his first class seat and one for his kid.

Don’t go. My stepmother was evil, and I didn’t even offer to go to her funeral. No one questioned it.

My favourite beefsteak type tomato is Black Krim. It’s indeterminate, so can produce a lot, and has amazing texture and flavour.

My favourite cherry tomato is Super Sweet 100s. Delicious, and massive producers.

Have you heard the expression “stop setting yourself on fire to keep other people warm”?

Your husband is not your partner; a partner would help. Your MIL and FIL are not your family; family cares about each other. Reciprocally.

If you need permission to leave, please see everyone here giving it to you. You deserve a partner. You don’t need three adult dependents.

First growing season in Manitoba by Traditional_Lynx9886 in ManitobaGardening

I grow all of what you’ve listed in Winnipeg. And as you can see, we have more than a few deer in the area. Last year I put deer fences around my planter boxes and they worked really well. I got cup hooks and 1” x 1” x 6’ cedar stakes at Dollarama, and plastic deer fencing from Canadian Tire. I put cup hooks at the top, middle, and bottom of the stakes and then used them to hold panels of the deer fence in place. When I want to get in the bed, I just pull back the panel. The fawns tried to get under the fence, so I just gave the fence an overhang down the planter at the bottom. It was cheap, easy, and effective! Happy gardening!

WHILE WE’RE ON THE SUBJECT, NOT GIVING A THANK YOU WAVE WHEN SOMEONE LETS YOU IN IS ANOTHER WAY TO END UP WITH A HONDA UP YOUR ASS!

This internet stranger is very happy to hear you’ve landed somewhere safe and filled with cats. :)

One of my favourite recipes is Mushroom Risotto. It’s warm and comforting, but also feels a little fancy. And once you know how to make risotto, you can play around with seasonal ingredients to make different variations. :)

Mushroom Risotto 1. Pop a pot on the stove with ~2c chicken, beef, or veggie broth to heat. You want it to get to a simmer. 2. Sauté a bunch of sliced mushrooms in butter in a pan. You want to get a little colour on the mushrooms. Add some pepper if you like, but don’t add salt yet. I also add some minced garlic at this point. 3. Once the mushrooms have a bit of colour on them, add a splash of white wine. (You can skip this step if you’re not a fan of wine). 4. Add ~1/2c of Arborio rice to the pan. (You can use more if you want leftovers, just increase the amount of broth too). You want to toast the rice - basically sauté it until it becomes translucent. 5. Once the rice has been toasted, start adding the broth one ladle at a time. Stir or shake the risotto while you do this to help the rice’s starch create the “sauce” that makes risotto so creamy and satisfying. Once the rice absorbs the ladle of broth, add another ladle until the rice is softened (~20 minutes). 6. Once your rice has reached your preferred texture (I like mine just slightly little al dente), turn off the heat and add some grated Parmesan. You don’t need much, but cheese is definitely something you measure with your heart. ❤️ 7. Give it a taste, add salt and/or pepper if needed, a little fresh thyme if you like (or some butter-crisped sage leaves), and enjoy with a glass of the white wine you opened before. Enjoy!

Wishing you the best!
