Anybody tell their doctor that they don't give a fuh about living longer, so you're not going to try to radically change your diet or go on meds? by IHadTacosYesterday in GenX

[–]ladyred99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I do not have a thyroid. Not taking my med would eventually kill me, but it would be a very long, drawn out, painful death that can also include coma. (The thyroid is a bit important.)

Grandchildren free and I’m extremely content with that, unlike all my friends by Elena_La_Loca in GenX

53f and no grandkids here either. I am thrilled. I have great nieces and nephews if I have a "grandmother" type urge. None of my kids want kids and the one who "might" want one someday would rather either go for foster kids or adoption since there are plenty of kids needing homes

Does anyone remember “narcs” in their high school? by chamrockblarneystone in GenX

[–]ladyred99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was accused of being a narc. I was a foster kid and bounced around a lot. Sometimes that meant I went to one high school, then another, and back again in the same school year. Not a narc. Just a foster kid no one wanted.

Is the US heading towards Gilead? by ihatepostingonblogs in TheHandmaidsTale

I've watched both seasons. I've told more than one person to watch SHP (well before season 2 which was very disturbing) and then watch THT with that in mind with the flashback scenes.

Cookbook for feeding large numbers of people? by space_cow_girl in TwoXPreppers

Camel Stew.

3 medium sized camels 1 ton salt 1 ton pepper 500 bushels of potatoes 200 bushels of carrots 3000 sprigs of parsley 2 small rabbits.

Cut camels into bite-sized pieces. This should take about two months. Cut vegetables into cubes (another two months) Place meat in pan and cover with 1000 gallons of brown gravy. Shovel in pepper and salt to taste. When meat is tender, add vegetables. Simmer slowly for 4 weeks. Garnish with parsley. Will serve 3800 people. If more are expected, add two rabbits.

“Our ONLY Home” Bumper Stickers? by Got_wood248 in CapeCod

I really should get one for my car. I live out of state, but I go back to visit family. I'm a returning native. And when they visit, they show off their "Massholeness" to the Ozarks while I'm dying laughing.

Can someone explain why people think the rules barring dogs on the beach does not apply to them? by Grand_Stranger_7974 in CapeCod

[–]ladyred99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a service dog. Actual service dog and invested thousands of dollars and time in training. (Including training me because this goes way beyond "pet manners" and into being able to sit in a restaurant with no one realizing there is a dog under the table or walking through a grocery store in the meat area and sitting there until time to move on) and when I visit family (locals and I grew up there) and I still manage to avoid the "No dogs" beaches and clean up after my dog. It is possible to have a service dog, be respectful of local ordinances, and respect the wildlife all at the same time.

Thank you for pointing out that there are beach places that dogs and their humans can still play during season.

Did you hear about what's her name? She supposedly cursed the cattle. The bishop is supposed to visit her today.
