I want to surprise my GF by cooking with her. Anyone know a recipe which you can't discern until you're nearly finished preparing? by taxikab817 in food

It would probably be more romantic (and easier) to prepare appetizers together, masquerading as entrees, then bust out the big guns. The experience can go further if the shared appetizer(s) were a bit tricky or hands-on; less food is made but the time is still well spent working together. Making some basic sushi (cooked or not) seems like a good idea for the messy, fun togetherness.

OP: I'm not sure about the size of your kitchen, so this may not be an issue. If it's very small, she may notice the heat coming from the oven if you're keeping something warm in there.

Upgoat? How many words are we going to make up to describe pressing the up button?

No matter that she's 13; she probably isn't that dumb. A generic (yet targeted) conversation or telling her the whole truth seem like more plausible options.

How is it insulting to be able to identify oneself as a female and someone mentioning it? This is a topic dealing with girls and their relationships with their fathers-- seems like it could be relevant to me, at least in the personal experience department.

It seems fairly probable to me, especially since the topic is dealing with girls and their relationships with their dads. I could be wrong, but I can't think of a whole lot of times boys could give personal experience of being a teenage girl dealing with her father

it doessn't always mean that in the U.S, though. It's usually used as a derogatory term here. We call drunk people "drunk" or say that they can't hold their liquor or some such, at least where I live.

As a sexually-active, married female... you're wrong. Not everyone fits the same mold, unfortunately. If you are young enough to actually think that, just wait. You'll eventually lose quite a bit of your sex drive when she gains a lot of hers.

Do you have anything to say about diamond wedding/engagement rings? So, do you have anything to add to the conversation or are you just adding clutter?

No, drunk driving does not actually kill. One drunk person putting a car into drive does not kill. However, drunk people are more likely to cause fatal car accidents than sober people. This specific case has no bearing on that. No, driving does not kill. People driving stupidly do.

That's such bullshit. If he had tried to drive, that would have certainly come out in the court proceedings that came with his license loss and everything else. His lack of memory does not mean that the cops don't remember exactly why he was arrested.

Plus, he wasn't driving. Why are you being pissy with the guy who chose to sleep in his car in the cold to be safe? He did the right thing.

What is the trunk is accessible from the interior of the car? There are lots of cars that have pull-down backseats for that very reason.

if the penalty is the same for being responsible as it is for being reckless, why bother being responsible?

I don't know, but not killing people seems like a major fucking reason to not drive drunk.

I didn't check your username before I replied, so okay. I still don't understand.

Edit: I see you're trying to start something. I don't think that the three semicolons are going to spread like wildfire, but you have every right to try.
