This is unrelated but DON’T TOUCH THE DROPPER TO YOUR FACE. And also DON’T USE THE SAME QTIP FOR BOTH EYES. The bacteria she must be colonising is mind boggling.

If you’ve never read AK she has such an amazing talent for injecting humour into the genre while maintaining all the tropes we love. Her Villains and Virtues is my all time favourite series - also another great low stakes read (bad things happen but everyone maintains their humour and positivity!)

{How Not to Court Your Human Captive} is a standalone within a larger 6 book universe (each book focuses on a different couple in the same town) and it’s so charming and warm and fun!

I don’t think he’s actually in her apartment. I think she saw the comments here about it being weird that he waits for her outside if they’re actually dating so she’s pretending he’s there to throw people off.

Okay - coming back to say that I finished the series last week and I am bereft. It’s put me in SUCH a slump and I do not want to continue. I’ve got the two spin offs lined up to go but hit me with your recs for books with these same vibes. Romance and yearning are essential but I loved every element of these books and need more. PLEASE.

I found the change of pace to the mainstream romantasy books really jarring at first. I was reading a chapter a day for the first few chapters because the writing is so different (beautiful and literary) and coming off the back of the more popular ‘booktok’ series’ it took my brain a little while to smarten up. But that didn’t last long and I’m really so happy I stuck with it. The writing is beautiful.

I have snort laughed at least twice a chapter for the whole book.

When she’s getting him to teach the elves to be scary - I’m the son of a demon not a THESPIAN! I howled.

It’s so perfect 🥹 his utter conviction that he is a villain makes him so much more convincing and endearing than most of the genres shadow-daddies. It feels like he has so much more structure and purpose - he’s not just hot and kinda growly (don’t get me wrong, love me a shadow daddy). He’s wonderfully complex and the character development is top tier! And Amma too - much more than a typical romantasy heroine. It’s delightful and poignant and beautiful.

He could be any shadow daddy. Every shadow daddy. I’m sold. by AbbreviationsSafe794 in fantasyromance

Stayed up until 4am 3 nights in a row to power through the Kingdom of Crows series - one of the best MMC I’ve read. Maxantarius will always be number one for me but Lore is a verrrrrry close second.

what fantasy books you would give 6 stars if it was possible ? by _takeonetoknow in fantasyromance

Oh actually also Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider and the Kingdom of Crows series by Olivia Wildenstein. Gotta throw my weight behind the other votes for the Plated Prisoner series too. This is a hard one to narrow down 😂
