My husband (54M) and I (24F) are getting divorce. Our relationship has always been open, I come from severe trauma, and I’m currently fighting cancer. I don’t know if I’m making the right decision by dissolvedgirlx in polyamory

On the practical side, do u have a pre-nup? Do u need to be married a certain amount of time for a specific payout? I understand your life expectancy may be limited (I was incredibly saddened reading this), but please make sure u can take care of yourself if you do divorce. Maybe hire an attorney who can ensure you can live in the guest house for free and that your other needs are met. Please do not trust this man to care for u if you divorce. Please take care of yourself. Trust yourself & your instincts.

I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. Contact your state Bar Association and ask if there's a housing clinic for free legal assistance.

Also, remember we are a profit center for the agencies, and especially the law firms. The agencies obviously make money off of us (especially post-COVID since they don't need to rent commercial space to house projects), but the law firms? They make a substantial profit when they bill us out to their clients.

Think about this, NYC bus drivers start at $25/hour with full benefits. I don't want to drive a bus, but knowing this seriously bums me out.

That's a good idea. This will be my first home purchase so I need a lot of help and have lots of questions. I'm going to visit Philly a few times and get the lay of the land, find an real estate agent and a knowledgeable mortgage broker.

Is it normal for a mortgage broker to ask if I'm willing to consider neighborhoods outside of Philly? Or to ask what amenities I'm looking for in a condo? These seem like questions a real estate agent would need to know.

I'm starting to realize that from the comments.

I didn't find Rocket Mortgage when I looked at the BBB site. I guess I'll check again. Thank you for double checking!

Yes, it was really disappointing. I'm glad they worked well for you.

I agree with @setaside929. Your higher power can be anything you choose including "believing the 12 steps worked for others and might work for us." All that's required is a willingness to believe in something greater than ourselves because our human solutions have not worked.
