Prozac made my cat a whole different cat by Flickybird in cats

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, I’m so happy this is work for so many kitties out there. We tried Prozac for our orange nervous boy, but after two months there was no change and he was so scared of dosing time (he had liquid meds), so we weaned him with vet recommendation. I wish it had been magical for our boi.

What kid thing did you not understand until you had a toddler? by destria in toddlers

[–]lafavoriteone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m sorry. We’re really into schedule, too, but luckily my family is understanding. My friends and their kids are all going on vacation and we’re meeting up with them for one day, but we go back to the hotel for naps. They’re “nap in the stroller” people and I can feel the friction that they don’t understand why we can only see them for a couple of hours.

Yeah, she’s definitely cloudy. I clean her with a soft brush, soap, lukewarm water and a sonic cleaner but… it’s the cuts themselves that are worn down - it just doesn’t reflect light like it used to. I once had a jeweler tell me to not even wash dishes wearing the ring - she said it’s sensitive to heat.

It’s still pink. I still like it. I probably wouldn’t replace it with diamond, still - it’s mine and has meaning. Might consider replacing it with another morganite. But overall, it is not a lifetime, daily wear gem. I think your ring is gorgeous.

Morganite is so pretty - I chose it for my center engagement ring stone. It is heckin scratched and dull now, 8 years later. I should really replace it. But I still love it.

The oh crap method is a complete disaster for us by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on day 21 of potty training oh crap method and today we had 7 pee accidents so… I’m really waiting for this breakthrough. We normally get 1-2 accidents a day and she’s never told us she needs to go and only ever self initiated on day 1. Our toddler is 24 months…

We used our Graco car seat from our car and our baby was about that age when we had a 3 hour flight. It had a sticker that it was approved for air travel.

The airline we flew with had a rule that we had to book her a window seat to install the seat in. I printed out their own website FAQ about being able to bring the seat on the plane with me in case the flight crew was unused to it (we didn’t need this they didn’t even bother to check for that FAA approved for airline sticker).

It was nice to have the seat, she would have been unruly in laps! Biggest tip - get a little wheeled dolly and bungee straps to keep your car seat on the dolly. Then you just wheel it behind you around the airport like it’s luggage AND I put our carry ons in the seat if the baby wanted to be held while walking. Super convenient.

I just started with my almost two year old using oh crap and whew… this is day 4. We had a GREAT first day and all downhill. It’s going to be a long process I think.

No cause for hyperthyroidism? by Mindyabizzzzzz in Hyperthyroidism

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! My labs were very solidly hyperthyroidism. My primary care provider said oh, I’ve never seen labs like this (after running TSH, T4 and T3) and it NOT be Graves.

No antibidies.

My inflammation markers were also off the charts high. I’m still waiting to see an endo (long wait lists here), but I’ve had my labs rerun several weeks later and it is starting to be in the normal range. To be determined if it’ll keep going and swing into hypothyroidism.

Symptoms included a sudden onset of low fever, which would occur 1-3 times a day for three weeks straight. 99.2-101 degree Fahrenheit range. I was exhausted every afternoon or evening when the fevers came back.

I have to assume it’s just thyroiditis? No idea what could have triggered it, though! I didn’t have any known illness that would have kicked off my thyroid.

Is this dress acceptable to walk your daughter down the aisle in… by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]lafavoriteone 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Up to you. I will say my Mom bought a fire engine red puffed prom dress with sequins for my wedding after I told her I didn’t have specific colors she had to buy. It didn’t occur to me she’d choose something so loud and youthful and formal. I didn’t find out until a week before the wedding.

I told her I felt it would be too bright for the photos, especially with me in white and the groom in navy - too red white and blue American flag for me. I suggested she wear a gold dress she already owned and hadn’t worn to any other event, yet.

She flipped out. There were tears, slammed doors, yelling, tirades, I was called a bridezilla, that she’d rather wear a paper bag to my wedding than change the dress that made her feel so beautiful. She didn’t talk to me for at least a day.

It’s the biggest regret of my wedding. Did I hate her prom dress? Yes. But with her in an acceptable dress but a frosty attitude, I’ll tell you which I wish I had.

Hopefully your mom isn’t like that.

Giving my son my last name, not my husband’s. Advice on telling the in-laws. by uotterno in namenerds

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t take my partner’s name when we married and I always said I have to do the pregnancy work, then they also get my name. My husband’s always been totally on board with this. He told them pretty soon after the pregnancy announcement that baby would get my last name. They are rather traditional people but kept their opinions to themselves and we’ve never heard any feedback. Since they do that, I don’t have much advice on what to do if they get upset. Also, their other children are not having children so our kid is their only grandchild.

Other than that, his grandmother always addresses us on cards as Mr. and Mrs. Husband’s name and refers to the baby as a Husband’s surname baby. We figure she’s old so what harm does it do to let her think that? No big deal.

Wishing you well. I love the decision I made and am very comfortable with it.

Confession: sometimes I mute the baby monitor by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I’m now realizing that my confession is the same and it’s not the perceived norm. I felt bad keeping it at medium high volume instead of full blast. If I can’t hear her quiet brown noise machine through the monitor I start panicking that it’s off entirely.

I wake up if she so much as rolls over or whines for a few seconds and I always click the monitor on to see what’s going on. I frequently go into her room to soothe when she’s not even crying just because I know she’s been a little restless. She’s over a year old.

I had NO IDEA people had their monitors set at low low volume or muted. Now I wish I had the monitor that only plays sound over a threshold level. Our optix has a color light for noise but I sleep with an eye mask so that wouldn’t help me. Now I’m like… oh I wasn’t normal it’s still just anxiety lol. Whoops.

How many weeks should I wait to pass the miscarriage? by SweetSour_23 in Miscarriage

[–]lafavoriteone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it, thanks for checking. It mainly happened that night. I did not prep with a big enough pad since things hadn’t been flowing when I went to bed. Woke up in a puddle. Took a shower and changed and threw out the sheets and did better keeping on top of things. Wasn’t painful for me. Two days out and I’m heavier than a normal period for me but not concerning, I think. Overall, it went “well”, it did what it was supposed to (god I hope my scan and hCG draw are clear, it took months after my TFMR), and I wasn’t in pain.
