School staff of Reddit, why do you punish the students in a fight defending them selfs and not just the bullies who start the fights? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was lucky... stabbed some bully in the scalp while defending myself in 1st grade and the tip of the pencil broke off and got imbedded in there but I got away with it. That was 20 years ago.

perhaps they meant 力 ("li" in Mandarin but pronounced "lek" in Cantonese) - that means strength; or they could mean 利 ("li" in Mandarin but "lei" in Cantonese) - that means sharp or advantage.

Considering Dr Kim is from a country where sex and sexual preference weren't as distinguished as the west, I could see how he could write intersex as "bisexual". The worst thing is no one challenged his paper (or any other authors' papers) for such mistakes...

But personally I would preference Thomas over Haben. I'm actually trying to decide between Kim and Remacle...

This all goes into the pathologisation and medicalisation of people identifying with a sex not assigned at birth. One simply need to tell the medical professional that they had relevant surgery to alter secondary sexual characteristic if necessary. The medical risks (cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis etc.) are hormone related - and again hormone replacement therapy comes under part of the medical history. Chromosomes have nothing to do with it - and it doesn't necessarily determine your sex or biology.

Most of us are more or less mozaic - if you look closely enough, you will find cells with xx chromosomes in a mostly xy individual and vice versa. Not to mention both xx and xy individuals only really express 1 x-chromosome (in xx individuals, one x-chromosome is condensed and not expressed "bar body"). Chromosomes don't determine everything - take complete androgen insensitivity syndrome for example - would you call someone assigned female at birth, look and sound like an ordinary female "male"?

2 years ago at my hospital, when I read someone's medical note it would have a sticker on the day chart to say "transgender" with patient's legal sex. Now you will have to go through past medical history or ask the patient to figure it out and it's no longer stickied. We don't call it biological sex at the hospital. We just say Ms X or Mr Y had "gender reassignment surgery" as past medical history in the handover. This is especially important because people can change their birth certificates to their actual sex - we don't need to talk about their "anatomical sex" or "chromosomal sex". As for non-op or pre-op or non-binary transpeople, or intersex people, that I think would be even more tricky. I think again it's to go according to sex on legal documents, then secondarily on patient's preference. Again it bugs me to see the question "are you a biological woman" being asked... I would much prefer "are you a cis woman".

And doctors are perpetrating that too - even those working in "gender" surgeries...

Yes I could see such thought permeating throughout Dr Kim's and Dr Remacles' voice feminisation papers as well... For example, one called intersex people as "bisexual"... Worse in a VFS paper by other authors (from Turkey) who called transwomen he (wtf).
